History: (Demon I #8-10) - Farley Fairfax was a celebrated actor and musician whose career came to an end when his love Galatea disfigured him and stole his soul with sorcery during a stage performance because she was jealous of his beauty and talent and knew he was cheating on her. He fled society and made a life for himself in the swears. He had a statue of Galatea and over the years he tried to bring her to life by stealing mystical objects. He broke into Jason Blood’s apartment and stole Merlin’s sword, but Jason’s alter-ego the Demon pursued him into the sewers. He was forced to give up the sword and flee, but soon after broke into Jason’s place again. He spotted Jason’s friend Glenda Mark, who bore an uncanny resemblance to Galatea, and kidnapped her. In his sewer lair he played the organ for her and tried to reclaim his old love. When she tried to talk reason into him he dragged her from the sewers to the old abandoned theatre where he used to act. He’d kept the props from the night he was disfigured, and set them up, demanding Glenda use magic to restore his face. The Demon had been trailing him, and emerged in the theatre. The Demon persuaded the Phantom to see reason. Etrigan summoned the spirit of Galatea and had her possess Glenda. Galatea promised to give back the Phantom’s face and summoned the Soul Snatcher that initially took it, but his restoration of visage and soul also made the years catch up with him, and the rapidly aging Phantom died of heart failure. Galatea completed her vengeance by possessing the statue the Phantom kept of her, uncovering a bomb in his lair, and blowing it sky-high.
