Base of Operations: Tarboli
First Appearance: Metamorpho I #7 (July-August, 1966)
Powers: Stuttgart was an insane genius, inventor and one of the world’s leading lucanologists. He used a number of weapons of his own invention, including the Neutron Dissolver and the Magno-Machine that could fly through the air or dive in the sea, and was powered by Earth’s magnetic field. The Magno-Machine was also armed with a heat-ray.
History: (Metamorpho I #7) - Stuttgart was the scientific advisor to Seashell II, a scientific platform drilling the Mohole, an opening into Earth’s crust. In a mad scheme to make himself a hero by causing and solving a catastrophe, Stuttgart secretly planted a neutron dissolver in the Earth’s crust, so that the Mohole started draining away the oceans. He wanted to make sure he’d be the one to save the day, so when there was a vulcanologist conference on the island of Tarboli, he established a base there and kidnapped the other scientists, including Simon Stagg. The C.I.A. called in Stagg’s employee Metamorpho, but Stuttgart assured him he could stop the oceans from draining away by using counter-molecular catalysts. When Stuttgart failed to close the Mohole he confessed he schemes to Metamorpho and tried to kill him with a heat-ray, but failed again. Stuttgart was mad, happy that the dissolver would end life on Earth, so he didn’t care that he’d failed. Metamorpho rescued Simon Stagg, and turned himself into a drill, boreing deep into the earth until he found the dissolver and smashed it.
