History: (Jonah Hex: Riders of the Worm and Such #3 (fb)) - Oscar Wilde gained fame and fortune as a writer and poet. He went on a world tour, and during his visit to the United States he visited Austin, Texas to give a talk in a saloon about art for art’s sake. Immigrant and fellow Englishman Mr. Graves had long been a fan of Wilde, and was in attendance. Graves was the only receptive member of the audience, who started jeering Wilde. Wilde responded with his characteristically caustic jibes, and the crowd turned violent. Wilde was happy to throw down, and Graves decided to join in until they were both kicked out of the saloon. Wilde and Graves talked long into the night on the nature of art, and Graves was inspired to open the Wilde West Ranch and Music and Culture Emporium, where he could raise up art in the wilderness of America.
