History: (Doctor Mid-Nite #1-3) - Nite-Lite grew up on the mean streets of Portsmouth, hitting the streets with guns at age ten just to survive. Nite-Lite became an associate of Dr. Pieter Cross, the "Midnight Doctor" who helped those who couldn't afford health care, like prostitutes and drug addicts, acting as muscle and a medical assistant. Nite-Lite and Cross' other partner Ice Sickle attempted to stop the kidnapping of Prof. Atticus Searles, who was working with Cross to make oil more inert, thus reducing the hazards of oil spills. Cross and his friends had been targeted by the Terrible Trio, industrial leaders of Portsmouth that were creating an army of addicts who bought their A39 steroids. The Trio caused an accident that cost Cross his sight, but enabled him to see into infrared. He became the hero Dr, Mid-Nite. Mid-Nite assigned Nite-Lite to bodyguard his assistant Camilla Marlowe while he investigated the Trio's front Praeda Industries. The Trio's goon Largo Sham broke into Mid-Nite's mansion in an attempt to kill Marlowe. Nite-Lite lept into action, but after a brief and brutal fight Sham escaped. Mid-Nite broke into the Praeda company Chemitron, learning about the Trio's plans to decimate the east side, and Nite-Lite effected his getaway. When the Trio tried to flood the city with toxic waste Nite-Lite and his street crew foiled them.
