NIGHTMASTER
Real Name: Jim Rook
Class: Human magic-user
Occupation: Rock singer, hero
Group Affiliation: Shadowpact
Known Relatives: Nacht (ancestor)
Aliases: None
Base of Operations: New York City, New York, Myrra
First Appearance: Showcase #82 (May, 1969)
Powers: Nightmaster wielded the enchanted Sword of Night, a sentient weapon that guided him in battle and filled him with extraordinary strength. The Sword hummed when danger approached, could deflect mystic attacks, and forced a person it touched to tell the truth. Only Nightmaster or another descendant of the hero Nacht could wield the Sword of Night.
History: Jim Rook was a singer in the rock band Electrics, and his life was turned upside down when King Zolto of the dimension Myrra summoned him to his realm. Rook was a descendant of the Myrra champion Nacht, who was banished to Earth 1,000 years ago by the evil Brom, who'd taken over Myrra with the help of his descendants, the Warlocks. Nacht wielded the mystic Sword of Night, created by the king of his time, and only a descendant of his could use it. With no other choice Rook took up the Sword and battled the Warlocks as Nightmaster. Nightmaster defeated the Warlocks, and saved his fiancee Janet Jones, who'd been brought to Myrra by his adversaries. Nightmaster returned to Earth and retired from being a hero.
