History: (Leading Comics #3) - <63 AD> Nero was in the middle of a fiddle solo when he was plucked from his time period, and brought to the 1940s by mad scientist Dr. Doome, who had perfected a time machine. Doome also snatched Alexander The Great, Genghis Khan, Attila the Hun, and Napoleon from history, and explained the wonders of his time machine. He wanted to build a machine that could penetrate the future, but needed their help to get money and rare metals to build it, and promised them conquest of the future. They agreed to help him after he gave them scepters that could return them to their own time whenever they chose. They robbed a national bank, and ran afoul of mysterymen Green Arrow and Speedy in their civilian identities. Khan disabled Speedy, and claimed his two-way radio as a prize. They made an escape in a seaplane Doome had waiting for them, and returned to Doome's lab. Doome had the funds, but now he needed precious metals for construction. The Seven Soldiers of Victory were alerted, and split up to stop the villains of history. Doome provided Nero with a slave galley from Rome, and a number of soldiers. They plundered Triton, a ship full of uranium, while Nero annoyed everyone by seeking attention with his fiddle playing. Soldiers Crimson Avenger and Wing arrived and entered the fray. They fought bravely, but were overwhelmed by superior numbers. Nero set fire to the Triton, and sailed off. Avenger and Wing recovered, and helped contain the fire before pursuing Nero and his men. They were trapped in a net, and forced into the slave galley. Young lad Sammy Singer and his pup Scraps were stowaways on the Triton that made their way aboard Nero's ship, and they bravely risked their lives to free the heroes. The Soldiers freed the slaves of the galley and took over Nero's ship. After Crimson Avenger busted Nero's fiddle over the tyrant's head he quickly returned to the past.
