He dedicated his life to his work at S.T.A.R. Labs, and was team leader on Project Nano, a project that developed the nanosuit, enhanced body armor that made its wearer imperious to physical and mental attacks. Dr. Caldwell was pleased that the project was a success, but didn’t like Adam’s demands for credit, so he fired him. Adams snapped, put on the nanosuit, and declared that Adams died long ago, and he was now Nano, all that remained of the man he once was. He took his project team hostage, and demanded a meeting with Caldwell. The Titan Cyborg intervened and battled with Nano. The fight went against him until he deduced the codeword that would shut the nanosuit down; Josephine. The empowered Nano collapsed in the lab.
(Titans II #20) - Nano and the Fearsome Five were hired by a client to take down the Titans. They decided to take them out one at a time, and targeted Troia. Troia defeated them, but they refused to name their client, and were sent to Belle Reve.
