Powers: Karu-Sil's primary weapon was her power ring, which was virtually identical to the power rings used by the Green Lantern Corps, except that it only utilized the yellow range of the spectrum, tapping into the emotional energy of fear. Sil’s power ring was capable of doing almost anything she could imagine. Examples of its’ powers include flight, phasing, creating giant objects formed of energy, and force fields. Its power ring could also counter the abilities of any Green Lantern’s power ring. The power construct she usually materialized were simulacra of the predatory carnivore pack that raised her.History: (Green
Lantern IV #19) - Karu-Sil was born into a primitive tribe on Graxos III, a
world full only of sociopaths and ruthless carnivores, and when she was five her
parents were killed in a raid by a neighboring tribe. She fled into the jungle,
and was forced to fend for herself. After killing an animal for food she realize
dit was already being hunted by a pack of vicious predators. They adopted her
into their pack, and she lived with them as an animal for years, even going so
far as to mutilate her face to resemble them more. She met a young boy of her
tribe and bashed his head in with a rock. Green Lantern Blish saw her pack
feeding on the boy, and imagining she was in trouble slew the pack. He brought
her to an asylum on Graxos IV, the death of her pack completely broke her.
Karu-Sil was chosen to join the Sinestro Corps because of her ability to instill
great fear, and she was grateful to Sinestro for giving her back her freedom and
giving her the means to recreate her pack with the Sinestro Corps power ring.
(Green
Lantern: Sinestro Corps Special #1) - Sinestro sent Karu-Sil and a number of the
Sinestro Corps to lead an assault on Oa. Many Green Lanterns perished, and the
Sinestro Corps managed to free Superboy Prime and Cyborg Superman from their Oan
sciencells and recruit them into the Corps.
(Tales
of the Sinestro Corps: Cyborg-Superman #1) - Warworld approached Earth, and
Sinestro laid out his plan of disabling the JlofA to Cyborg-Superman, and tried
to get a rise out of him by mentioning the possibility of an encounter with
Superman. Cyborg just mused that he was long past taunts, or wanting revenge,
and he looked forward to pursuing his agenda of the end of all life and
betraying Sinestro. Karu-Sil and the Sinestro Corps damaged the JlofA satellite,
battered the League, and Warworld entered Earth’s orbit.
(Green Lantern IV #24) - Sinestro
communicated with Hal via his power ring as the Sinestro Corps invaded Earth. He
intended to conquer the planet, making it a symbol of the Sinestro Corp’s
power and their ability to control any planet. He intended to makes slaves of
the Earthlings, and execute anyone who did not submit. Karu-Sil and her fellow
Sinestro Corps soldiers wrecked havoc on Earth, but were staved off by the GLC
and an army of Earth’s heroes.
