History: (Green Lantern IV #10) - Igneous Man was a mercenary wanted for murders in seventeen sectors of space. He went to Earth to claim a bounty put on Green Lantern Hal Jordan, and lurked around Chernobyl to simulate his natural environment.  He confronted Hal, and their battle led to Russian air space, violating the Freedom of Powers Act that forbid American metahumans on foreign soil. The Rocker Red Brigade appeared and told Hal they’d take Igneous Man into custody, with the intention of scientific dissection. Hal balked, noting that the Green Lantern Corps had interplanetary authority, and Igneous Man took the opportunity to attack both Hal and the Reds. Hal defeated Igneous Man by surrounding him in a forcefield, causing him to burn off his own oxygen.

(Green Lantern IV #16) - Amon Sur broke into Hangar 44 to steal the ship his father Abin Sur had crash landed-on Earth in. Igneous Man and a number of other prisoners watched on as Amon gunned down the air force guards. Igneous Man begged him to free him, but Amon was so disappointed in his failure to capture Green Lantern that he ignored him.
