Lex Luthor outfitted him as a supervillain and sent Combattor to kill Superman, aware that Combattor's own powers would kill him and make it impossible to trace him back to Lex. Combattor took Lois Lane hostage to draw Superman out, but was instead met by Gangbuster. They fought and although Combattor was winning his power burned out his body and killed him, but as he died he landed on Gangbuster's back, breaking his spine and crippling him.
(Adventures of Superman #438) - A funeral was held for Chin. Lois attended and Chin's brother Ronnie promised her more information on his deceased sibling.
