While filming in Ille Du Diable the Blue Devil crew accidentally awoke the demon Nebiros, but Dan, wearing the Blue Devil suit, bravely fought and banished the beast. During the fight Nebiros hit him with a mystic bolt of energy that fused Dan into the Blue Devil suit. Blue Devil contacted a number of superheroes and mystics, but none of them could help him remove the suit. He finally gave up the idea of ditching the suit and took on a full-time superhero career.
(Showcase '93 #1-3) -Devil was directing his first film, "Desert Swarm," which was going way over budget, when things got worse as a cruise missile needed for one scene went out of control. Blue Devil kept it from hurting anyone, grumbling the entire way about how he hated heroics, but when he brought the missile down it destroyed most of his set. Devil was happy to be finished as a superhero, and didn't ant to see his movie career ruined, and hoped his producer Marla would forgive him for the gaff. He visited his F/X man Morty's trailer, but found an interplanetary portal. A robot walked through, and after subduing him brought him to his home of Maldor, where Morty was also being held captive. The Maldorans tried to dissect Blue Devil, but he freed himself and Morty. Morty confessed that he was an alien sent to spy on Blue Devil. The Maldorans were interested in his powers, which blended magic and technology, and wanted the secret of his suit. When their robots failed to capture him years ago they sent Morty. Morty used a device that weakened his techno-mystical interface, and without the "weirdness magnet" life quieted down for Blue Devil. He was expected to abduct Blue Devil himself, but he'd grown to like the hero, and refused, which was why the Maldorians went after them. They made it to the Maldorians teleportation tubes, and used them to return to Earth, sending themselves to the Justice League hq, where they were confronted by Guy Gardner. Guy didn't like Blue Devil's demonic look, leading to a fight between the Justice League and Blue Devil. The Ironmongers of Maldor pursued Blue Devil and Morty through teleportation, and when they engaged the Justice League in combat Blue Devil and Morty took the opportunity to escape. Blue Devil was confronted by Blacksmyth, an associate of the Ironmongers, who defeated him and put him in a machine that drained his life essence.
(Showcase '93 #4-6) - Blue Devil met the master of the Ironmongers and Blacksmyth, Galaxa, who took the worldseeds, or essence of a planet, and devoured them. She used Blue Devils techno-magic powers to summon Earth's worldseed, but Gaea spoke to Blue Devil and lent her the Earth's power to battle Galaxa. Blue Devil fared well until Galaxa used her energy powers to blast the worldseed, depowering Blue Devil, and separating him from his Blue Devil costume. He was thrilled, but his joy was short-lived, as Galaxa remerged him with the costume over his strong objections that he'd rather die as a normal person than live as the Devil. Galaxa began to drain the worldseed, but Blue Devil had Morty use his dampening device to disrupt his techno-magic and Galaxa's interface with the worldseed. He got the drop on her and destroyed her energy manifestation with one punch. Blue Devil was distraught to learn that the dampening device had been destroyed in the fight, and he'd be a weirdness magnet forever. Blue Devil and Morty returned home, only to be confronted by Nebiros, who'd been freed from his realm by the cosmic upheaval that occured when the worldseed was disturbed. Nebiros still called Blue Devil little brother, and Devil persuaded him not to eat any humans, promising him a feast beyond his wildest imagination. He lured him to Morty's trailer and opened up the teleporter. Nebiros finally realized he was being tricked, but Devil blasted him through the teleporter with an energy beam that shot from his hand. Blue Devil wondered if his fight with Galaxa had alteed his poers. He accepted that it was his lot to be a superhero, and he told Morty they had many adventures to come.

It was Green Lantern Hal Jordan, as the new Spectre host, who defeated Neron. Blue Devil joined the Sentinels of Magic to protect the world from magical threats.
(Martian Manhunter II #28) - Devil and the Sentinels of Magic battled the Demon, who’d been separated from Jason Blood and was tapping into the power of Stonehenge. At Phantom Strangers request Martian Manhunter joined the Sentinels in battle, and found Morgan Le Fay, who had Jason Blood trapped in a tesseract jewel. Manhunter shattered the jewel, freeing Blood, and ending the Demon’s threat.
(JSA #33) - The Ultra-Humanite used Johnny Thunder’s Thunderbolt to conquer the world, and imprisoned Blue Devil and virtually every other superhuman on Earth in stasis tubes. Devil and the other heroes were freed when the JSA defeated Ultra-Humanite.
