History: (Adventure Comics I #41, 42) - Barry O'Neill was investigating espionage in Tunisia when he vanished. Le Grand looked for clues to his whereabouts. An intelligence attaché revealed that another agent X-3, had been murdered, but the government still planned some naval maneuvers that could be the target of attack. The only ship around the area was a salvage boat, and Le Grand decided to check it out. Grand inspected the boat, and everything seemed in order, but he knew something was up because he recognized the captain Cecil Krull as a criminal he'd tangled with in the past. On dry land Krull's men followed Grand and kidnapped him, despite a Tunisian native attempting to stop them. Krull revealed that he'd planted mines that would destroy the naval boats, and put Grand in a plane to dump him over the ocean. The Tunisian man was shadowing them, and hopped aboard the plane. The native shot the pilot, and landed the plane safely, saving Le Grand's life. He took off his disguise and revealed himself as Barry O'Neill. He returned to Krull's hideout, and brawled with him, knocking him out. Barry set off the mines before the French fleet arrived so they could perform their military maneuvers safely. Just as the case wrapped up the commandant summoned Barry and Le Grand, saying he had a new case that would push them to the limit.
