History: (Starfire II #4 (fb)) - Atlee was born in the subterranean world of Strata, a land possessed of futuristic technology and harmony with nature. The metal quixium surrounding Strata altered the Stratans genetic structure, and some of them were born with powers, including Atlee. She could control the earth around her, and it was seen as her destiny to protect Strata. Atlee was betrothed in an arranged marriage, but refused to marry for politics because she loved another. Her jilted fiancée vowed revenge. The surface dwellers disregard of the environment began to affect Strata, and Atlee was sent to the surface to learn about humanity, and teach them Stratan ways. She met some of Earth's greatest heroes, including Power Girl, who took her in and became very close to her. Power Girl's life got complicated, and Atlee decided to live a more low-key life to learn about humanity.

(Starfire II #3, 4) - Atlee ended up at waitress at the Blue Monkey diner in Key West. Alien Starfire walked in one day and asked Atlee why every man in the diner was buying her drinks. Atlee said it was a sort of human mating ritual, but advised her going home with anyone. A Chida Monster Atlee had buried exploded into the diner looking for revenge. Atlee revealed her superhero costume, and moved the fight outside with Starfire aiding her. The monster grew stronger the more energy was directed at it, so Atlee tossed the Chida to Starfire, who flew him far over the ocean, and began pounding him until he was of immeasurable size. The Chida tried to grab Starfire as he sank, but Starfire blasted his hand apart, and when he reached the ocean bottom he collapsed it, sinking deep into the earth. Starfire was intrigued with Atlee, and invited her over to go in her swimming pool sometime. Sheriff Gomez started freaking out.; within days Key West had seen more metahuman activity than it ever had in the entirety of her career. Starfire's solution was to give Gomez a big hug, which the sheriff wasn't keen on. Gomez asked the heroes if they could at least try to be low-key.

(Starfire II #5) - Starfire and Atlee hung out, and Starfire told her about a man she'd met Soren Hook, a doctor who could absorb cancer that had been driven mad. The next night they went to a pool party, and Atlee buddied up with Sheriff Gomez, telling her stories about Strata, and insisting she visit.

(Starfire II #8) - Atlee visited Stella at work, having figured out the logistics of their trip to Strata, and told Gomez she'd be the first human to ever visit. Stella decided she could use a vacation, and put in for a few days off.

(Starfire II #9, 10) - The girls went to the Everglades to start their vacation by renting an air boat from Atlee's Stratan friend Billybob. Robbers showed up demanding the boat for themselves, and Stella was so angered at her vacation being interrupted that she beat them to a pulp. Billybob hinted for Atlee to be careful before they left the air boat to ride a protective bubble to Strata. They talked about how they were all heroes at heart, and Starfire said she might get fired from her job because she'd made up her mind to free Beth the dolphin. Atlee's family were waiting for her and shouted surprise. Starfire senses something wrong with Strata's light source before passing out. Atlee's former fiancée King Neala-Tok entered Strata, bent on conquering it. Neala-Tok's troops massacre every citizen in their way. Atlee said he'd gone too far, and as Strata's protector she was enacted to carry out a death sentence on him. They clashed, and the king unleashed his second wave of attackers, Chida Monsters. Starfire absorbed ambient light, and Strata overloaded her, but her body adjusted as Atlee and Gomez fought their losing battle against Neala-Tok. The recovered Starfire confronted the kind, telling him he'd be ruler of an empty kingdom if he continued his genocidal rampage, and he never thought past his own malevolence. She unleashed her full power, disintegrating Neala-Tok and his army. Starfire drifted into a coma, and Atlee's physician Aurla said it could take her 32 years to recover. Atlee's people had their rebirth ceremony, gathering friend and foe alike, and letting their essence float into the sun that powered Strata. Aurla's physician did not understand Tamaranian physiology, and Starfire was awake and ready to party.

(Starfire II #11) - The victory celebration honoring the girls as great heroes lasted for days. Starfire danced with subterranean architect Gink, while the small, fuzzy Choor asked Stella to come back to his place for some love. Atlee told her he was so insistent because his species only lived too days. Gomez drank too much, and had to be carried back to her room by Starfire, Atlee, and Choor. Starfire rubbed his head, causing him to reproduce by shooting out tiny furballs. Starfire wondered if she should help him raise them, but Atlee said they'd be full grown adults by the next day. The next day Atlee invited them into the emopool, a totally relaxing experience that let people get in touch with their true feelings. They had a lot of loving words to share, but Stella admitted she didn't want Starfire with her brother. He was still a wreck after losing Maria, and she thought being with Starfire meant it was inevitable that he'd get hurt physically and emotionally. She said it was easy for Starfire to deal with serial killers and extraterrestrial threats because she was a superhero, but Gomez and her family were mortal. Starfire appreciated the candor, and despite Stella's later objections, decided to move out of Sol's apartment and out of Key West. Time ran differently in Strata, so the few days they were gone translated to a week and a half on the surface. They arrived in time for Fantasy Fest, and Starfire decided to stick around for a bit longer.
