Abraham Smelser of Bedford Co., VA

Abraham Smelser was born to Paulser Smelser and his wife, Catherine.

In his father's will dated 7 Dec 1777 Bedford Co., VA, Abraham received land and was to receive a colt from brother John:
"...Beloved sons, John Smelser and Abraham Smelser the tract of one hundred sixty three acres...",
"...part adjoining where I live to my son John and the upper part to Abraham..."
"... and that my John give unto Abraham the first two year old colt from his mare and that Paulser gives unto Jesse the first two year old colt that comes from his mare..."
"...that my son Steven give unto my son Abraham to make Abraham part equal..."

No other record of Abraham is found until his marriage to Sally Smith 25 Apr 1791, Bedford Co., VA.

At the request of the administration I append to this account a statement of the distribution of the balance due the estate Dec 1st 1880.

This Settlement of the Accounts of John H. Gross admr. de bonis non with the will annexed of Abram Smelser dec'd, having lain in the Clerk's Office of this Court more than one month, was produced in Court and no exceptions having been taken thereto, it was examined, confirmed and ordered to be recorded.

Marriage Bond of John Coffindaffer and Sina Smelser from the Bedford Co., VA Court House
Know all hereby these presence that we John Cofender and Charles Pearcy are held and firmily bound unto James Barbour Esq. governor or chief magistrate of the common wealth of Va in the sum of one hundred and fifty dollars Va. currency for the true payment of which to the said governor or his welfare we bind ourselves and each of us and each of our heirs Exoc. firmly execute by these presence sealed and dated this 10 day of April 1813. The conditions of the above oglibation is such in that whereas there is a marriage shortly intended to be had and solomized between the above bound John Cofinder and Sina Smelser now if there shall be no lawfull cause to obstruct the said marriage there this obligation to be else reunion in full force and virtue.
