"EcoArt" paintings and constructions open the new season at River Art Showroom in Skamokawa, Washington.
These are recent works by the distinguished mid-western painter Beverly Rae Hopkins. In these works the painter makes pointed and poignant comments on the contemporary human's relationship to absolutely everything from cats to confusion (giving architecture, the waters and the heavens a good whack in passing), all withgood will and a sense of humor but never far from the point: What ARE we doing?
Miss Hopkins, a native Oregonian, is Professor Emeritus of art, Southwestern Missouri State University; she has degrees from Mills College and the University of Oregon; professional honors; grants for extended study; she is represented by works in significant private collections across the United States.
The "old" fishing/logging-ghost of Skamokawa is a fitting view place for Hopkins' ecological inquiries in paint; the waterfront community there is enjoying a new environmental role focused on the Columbia River. River Art is open weekends Friday through Sunday at 1414 West State Route 4, Skamokawa.
There is NO CHARGE for admittance.
