Make the dough :
3 cups of plain flour
4 teaspoons of Baking Powder
75 grams Butter
1 to 1 1/2 cups milk
1/4 teaspoon salt

Mix flour and Baking powder and salt in a bowl, cut in the butter and mix with a knife until it looks like breadcrumbs. Add milk and quickly mix to soft dough.

Roll out on floured board into a large rectangle chop up about 3 -4 apples and slice and lie on top of dough mix - dough should be about 1 inch thick now starting at the side nearest to you roll the dough mix up like a Swiss roll and so it ends up like a long sausage.

Cut into slices about 2 inches thick and turn up and lie in a greased shallow dish.

Sprinkle about 1 to 1/2 cups of sugar and then pour over the top enough water to half fill the dish…… watch as this cooks you might need to add more sugar and water.

Bake at 180c for aprox 35-40 minutes - top should be crusty and bottom half soft with a sauce.
