Caption 1: Self Selected Lesson Plan

1. Date:	October 8th, 2001

2. Description: Lesson plan to teach cellular structure

3. Connection to Goals: This assignment meets instructor goal three because it is a use of a
hands-on and art-related instructional technique in order to try and
create a connection for the students in a way they may not be used
to. It is designed to help those students who are more right-brained
(art oriented) to find a way to relate to science material which is
often very left brain in type. It also meets instructor goal six because
it forces the students to select, use, and evaluate a variety of formats,
and materials in designing their particular cells.

4. Reflection: When I next do this project, I plan to specify that the cells, when completed,
must be completely three dimensional. My reasoning is that while it might
be OK to just print a picture of a cell and sick it to a piece of paper, that does
not make the student THINK about, or learn about the cell structure as much
as those who build it in some fashion or those who design computer
                           simulations of the cell.

Caption 2: Evaluations of my first semester of teaching

1. Date: Received on Dec 7th

2. Description: Following are two evaluations of my first semester of teaching. One is by Mark
Christian (Principal at Heights), the other is a joint review by myself and Linda
                         Hoobler (my Peer Consulting Coordinator).

3. Connection to Goals: These evaluations meet professionalism goals one and two as they
show that I am willing to listen to criticism and hopefully to learn
from it, also they show that I am more than willing to share information
and foster relationships with other faculty and teachers.

4. Reflection: I have read these evaluations and have used them to attempt to better my methods
                        of educating.

Caption 3: Evaluation of my second semester of teaching

1. Date: Received on May 11th

2. Description: Following is an evaluation of my second semester of teaching. It is a joint review by myself and Linda
                         Hoobler (my Peer Consulting Coordinator).

3. Connection to Goals: This evaluation meets professionalism goals one and two as it
shows that I am willing to listen to criticism and hopefully to learn
from it, also it show that I am more than willing to share information
and foster relationships with other faculty and teachers.

4. Reflection: I have read this evaluations and have used it to attempt to better my methods
                        of educating.

Caption 4: Sample Physical Science Test

1. Date: Given on May 3rd

2. Description: The following is an example of a test that I gave at the end of a unit on work,
energy, and machines. The day before this test, I reviewed the material with
the students by having them compete with each other to answer questions from
                         the test.

3. Connection to Goals: This test meets instructor goal seven as it is a formal evaluation of
the knowledge the student has aquired about the topic.

4. Reflection: I believe that this test is appropriate to the topic, and the only possible change
I would make is to put the number of points possible (82) on the test so the students
would be better aware of the effect of the test on their grade.

Caption 5: Biological Timeline

1. Date: Assigned on April 3, 2003

2. Description: The following is a project the students were assigned to help them
better understand geologic time and the time periods involved in natural history.
The students were assinged to work in groups (randomly selected) and given the
criteria along with a 4 meter long piece of paper. Some of the work was done outside
                         of class.

3. Connection to Goals: This assignment meets several program goals including, the use of assignments for
varied learning styles as well as varied instructional approaches and materials.

4. Reflection: This assignment fit well with the material that I wanted the students to learn, and I
believe that most of them came away with a better understanding of how long history is
compared to how short the human span of life has been.
