Bring Home The Stones - Jump Off A Roof!!

Wealdstone F C are looking for volunteers to stage a bungee jump in Harrow - or to organise a 24 hour Footballathon, to help raise £50,000 to kick-start the newly launched Bring Home The Stones Cmapaign Fund.

For Wealdstone having achieved outline planning permission (subject to D.O.E approval) for their proposed new stadium at The prince Edwards Playing Fields, Cannons Park, now need to find the cash to pay for it.

"We're looking for innovative fund-raising ideas" said the club's Press Officer and Director, Graham Sharpe, "And the zanier the beeter - I'm not sure that the managment of Tescos in Station Road, the site of wealdstones last permanent home, Lower Mead, would welcome a bungee jump or abseil from his roof, but that's the kind of attention-grabbing, money-raising idea the new campaign is looking to endorse. We want to raise £50,000 in total by July 1999."

Of course the Club intends to raies the bulk of the necessary funding by applying for Lottery Funding and making applications for available grants, but the more the club can find through it's own efforts, the greater it's potential support from the lottery and other sources.

And now a committee is being formed from the club's Board, the supporters Club and the Junior Stones, to promote the Bring Home The Stones Campaign Fund, which will be giving a special bank account in which to keep funds as they are raised.

A Campaign Launch meeting will take place at Wealdstone's current landlords Edgware F C's club house on Monday, November 30 at 7:30pm.

"Anyone interested in supporting and promoting the campaign and in helping to raise money will be made welcome." said Graham Sharpe.
