*~JuNKyArD~* The Ultimate Nirvana Newsletter
Hello there. I know this newsletter is a little bit late, but I had been sending the last few ones out really close together, and then school has been extremely hectic on me. During the week, I'm bogged down with school work, and then on the weekends, you know, I do have a social life, so I'm hardly ever home. =) And when I am home on the weekends, I'm doing homework. =)
If you don't have AOL 3.0, you're not seeing all the pretty colors that come with this. And you're probably having a hard time reading it, too, because of all the HTML tags that come with it. AOL may stinkypoo, but if this is driving you insane to the point of you'll do anything to fix the problem, well then, the solution would be to get AOL, right?
WELCOME, all new subscribers!! I hope you enjoy the newsletter. I'm going to explain to you really quickly how this newsletter works:
Every newsletter I give you a new topic, and you send me your thoughts on that topic. Then I'll publish them in the next issue of the newsletter. I also try to give some news pertaining to the band with every issue...and I'll always send out one .GIF/.JPEG or .WAV/.MIDI with every issue.
The topic from last time was what you thought of Sweet 75, Krist Novoselic's new band. They recently released their self-titled debut album. I was wondering what people thought of the new cd, or just the band themselves. Here's what people had to say:
****
No offense or anything, but I want no part of any band that Krist (the world's biggest dork) is in. Maybe he'll hit himself in the face with another guitar and start acting cool. I am not gonna go grab his new cd just because he played in a band I enjoy listening to. He is a pretty good bassist and that is the only reason Nirvana didnt kick his dorky self out.
****
i havent heard the new sweet 75 album yet..but ive heard many opinions on
it..like a wide variety of sounds, and they sound nothing like nirvana, but
thats a good thing..and even on a neater note, any local h fans out there,
scott lucas (the singer) met krist and suggested anyone to buy the album
because it rules..i thought that was kinda neat...

Your newsletter is a great idea. [Ed. note: THANKS FOR THE COMPLIMENT!!! You're winning mucho brownie points with me. =)] I listened to Sweet 75's CD and I like it too -- I especially like that it includes a Venezuelan folk song, which is I think is a cool move on their part. I can't wait to see them in concert....

this really wasnt a subject of your newsletter, but i thought it should be.
number 5 of that list thing [Ed. note: Okay, lemme explain this to all new subscribers. Last issue I sent out this list my friend gave me of the top 10 (or maybe it was 15) reasons on why cloning is a bad idea. The #5 reason was there'd be even more NIRVANA clones on the radio!] gave me an urge to write this. nirvana clones on
the radio. sure we hear them and most of them piss people off. i could never
understand it though. "oh yeah, bush sounds just like nirvana, but I HATE
bush and i LOVE nirvana"...how can you hate a clone if they sound just like
your favorite band? personally i dont think the first bush album really
sounded like nirvana , but the new one does. people say its cause of the
steve albini sound. are these people really nirvana clones, or cant you all
just grasp the fact that bands all have some similarites? i dont even think
most of the clones sound like nirvana {iei: foo fighters, local h, bush} they
just have this guitar chord or something thats similar. if their wasnt
clones, what would their be? would the rest of the world listen to this new
stuff, hanson and the spice girls or even worse, techno? clones are better
than that if anything. it could always be worse..theres still the little
indie bands out their, theirs more nirvana clones than you will ever realize.
every day a new nirvana fan comes around, or starts a nirvana-clone band.

[And last but not least, a very noteworthy post:]
hey.....this has nothing to do with the topic or anything but here it is:
i was wondering if u've evr made such a big deal about the Foo Fighters as u have Sweet 75....i just wanted your opinion on them. if anyone out there has been as lucky as me, u've seen the Foo Fighters in concert and how sweet Dave Grohl is. i saw them a couple weeks ago in this TINY club in Denver...Dave was the sweetest guy. i was standin right in front of him..he looked down and saw me (drooling over him :-) and just smiled and kept playing. i know that sounds cheesy but most big performers wouldn't do that..ya know? i just wanted yalls opinion about them since i've heard so much about Sweet75. here's another interesting thing about the concert...Taylor Hawkins had on these long shorts and i don't think he realized that when he sat down to play you could see straight up them. we were laughin the entire concert. oh well....later.

Thank you Kat. You're exactly right. It's time to make a big deal about
FoO FiGHtErs. I've never done that because see, I started this newsletter way way after the *Foo Fighters* first got started. But it's time to celebrate this also wonderful band. So for the topic next time: What do you think of fOO fIGHTERS? Do you like one of their albums better than the other? Did you like Dave Grohl's goatee thingy? (I'm asking this because I'm dying to know if I'm the only one who thinks he looked skankola, but then again, he'll always be cool no matter if he wears a burlap bag on his head! Thank goodness he shaved that thing...Uhm, nevermind....). What do you think about Pat Smear (that cool dude him) leaving the band? Send me anything that you want to say about the FF. Send all your thoughts to: alexandra@nirvanafan.com.****
Not much other news...Well, if you didn't catch on from above, Pat Smear confirmed rumors that he was leaving the band at the 1997 MTV Video Music Awards. =( Too bad; I love the dude. Oh, I was reading Details (the September issue) because it had Foo Fighters in it; too bad it's a guy's magazine, but oh well. Anyways, they had this little blurb interview with Krist Novoselic in it, and they asked him what he thought of the Foo Fighters, and he was like "I think it's great that Dave still has all his energy.." blah blah blah, something along those lines. Then Details asked him what he thought of them as a band, and then they were like "And what do you think of Foo Fighters doing this whole corporate rock thing?" And Krist was just like "Well, so are we!" I just thought it was funny that he admitted that, but Sweet 75 is such a great band (I hope everyone took my advice from last time and ran out and bought the CD..) =)

No clue what the picture I'm sending out with this issue is of....Just figure it out yourselves and enjoy it. =)
****As always, inform me of any screenname changes BEFORE you make them. This little newsletter has gotten pretty big, and it's annoying to have to send the newsletter out, see that so-and-so isn't an AOL member anymore, sift through one of the many address books i use for this, and find your name and delete it. Then, when you decide to inform me of your change, I probably won't be a happy camper and I might not even consider renewing your subscription. Sorry.
As always, this newsletter IS free, so don't sweat about it. Make sure everyone visits the JuNKyArD website: JuNKyArD -- The Website (https://www.angelfire.com/ar/FarragoPage/junkyard.html) and my own NIRVANA website: ~A Farrago of Nirvana~ (https://www.angelfire.com/ar/FarragoPage/index.html).
Please tell all your friends about this newsletter...Feel free to forward them a copy, but make sure you tell me who you're sending it to so that doesn't get too out of hand. I'll automatically subscribe them, and if they're hating it, they can just email me and cancel their subscription. Thank you so much for subscribing, you guys!
Love,
~*Alexandra*~
