A cool view from the back of the truck coming down from the volcano Pichincha. It's the mountain that limits Quito's expansion to the west.

The vulcanology class on a death march at 5:30 am going up to Pichincha's crater... it's really high... and really cold.

Definitely worth the 2am wake up call and altitude headache.

Here's Jenny in sandals in about 20 F weather. We like to blame the fact that we were horribly unprepared for the cold on the teacher.

A few friends up at the top.

Professor Theo trying to teach us about the crater while we shiver. Note the little thread of smoke... pretty cool.

Sheneka and me.

Jenny boogying down the very bumpy and very dusty road back to Quito.
