Author's Notes:
Okay guys, here's the first chapter of Crimson Embrace. This fic is definitely going to be complicated. I'm going to run myself into the ground by the time I'm finished with it. I have no idea why I do this to myself. Worst still, I have other ideas whirling around in my head that will have to be put on paper soon because they're driving me crazy. So I'll probably have a mental breakdown soon. Oh, well, a writer's life is never easy.
Just so that you know -- Time has passed for our boys since we last saw them at the end of the anime series, about ten years to be precise, so please keep that in mind as you read along.
Well, that's it for now. Happy reading guys and remember to please review.
Thanks,
Forsaken
Schuldich stood in front of his bedroom window and watched with weary eyes as the night sky gave way to the coming dawn. He sighed and rubbed his tired eyes but was unable to look away from the brightening horizon. Memories of the past flashed in his mind and Schuldich felt the familiar pang of loss he always experienced when he allowed himself to dwell on the past for too long.
The ache in his heart grew stronger as he thought back to the countless times he'd watched the sunrise. With vivid clarity, Schuldich could still recall how strong arms had held him in a tight embrace. He had truly been happy then. To have lost such joy was almost unbearable at times. I miss you so much, Brad.
A soft moan intruded his thoughts and Schuldich turned slightly to look over his shoulder. His sad gaze fell upon his slumbering lover curled on his side on their bed and he grinned. He couldn't help it. The sight of his lover tangled in the bed sheets too close to the edge of the bed was just too cute.
Yohji Kudou was indeed a beautiful creature, thought Schuldich as his evergreen eyes took in the sight before him. Long honey-blonde locks of hair curled in wild abandon over the pillows and Yohji's ethereal face was lost within their thick depths. His slender form was gloriously naked and barely covered by satin blue sheets.
Schuldich's grip on the windowsill tightened and his grin faded as his thoughts and emotions became confused and disturbed. Yohji could always do that to him. Schuldich sighed and turned his head away from his lover's sleeping form to focus his gaze once again on the horizon. He ran a frustrated hand through his long unruly mane as thoughts of Yohji whirled in his mind and gripped his heart.
His feelings for Yohji were still unclear to him even after living with the blonde for the past three years. Schuldich knew he cared for Yohji, cared deeply enough to even sacrifice his own life for the blonde. But he didn't love him. How could he when his heart belonged to another?
He couldn't help but feel guilty over his inability to love Yohji. Knowing that Yohji loved him very much in return made him feel even worst. God, I'm such a bastard. Schuldich straightened and brought his hand up to gently massage his now throbbing temple.
He hated the pain he knew he was causing the blonde all because he couldn't reciprocate Yohji's love. He abhorred the way his lover's emerald green eyes would shine with hope before dimming slightly as the love mirrored in them went unanswered. It made his chest tighten and his heart ache with remorse whenever it happened. But I warned him, didn't I? He shouldn't be expecting anything from me, dammit.
From the very beginning, Schuldich had made it clear to Yohji that he didn't love him, couldn't love him because he loved only one man. And even though Bradley Crawford had disappeared a long time ago and was presumed dead, Schuldich's love for the man remained true and constant. Schuldich sighed deeply and crossed his arms over his naked chest.
Three years ago, love hadn't even been an issue between them. He thought back to when they had first started dating and remembered fondly how they had enjoyed each other's company from the start. Their mutual attraction had been instant and very strong. Well, actually, it had been fucking fantastic. Explosive really. When their relationship had become serious, they had decided to live together. It had been the best solution for ridding themselves of their lonely existence.
Everything had been perfect between them up until a year ago. Perfect until one night Yohji confessed the depth of his feelings for Schuldich. Unfortunately, his reaction to Yohji's revelation had been volatile and he had said things that 'til this day he regretted. He had stormed out of the apartment absolutely furious with the blonde for ruining things.
Schuldich shook his head at the memory. I was such an asshole.
He had been running scared that night and had acted like such a fool. An asshole and a coward, too. He had returned a few hours later to the apartment that night still angry but mostly determined to talk things over with Yohji. But, he never got the chance to. He had found Yohji fast asleep on their bed with his face still damp from countless tears and a nearly empty bottle of Hennessy tightly gripped in Yohji's otherwise limp hand. It was a sight that Schuldich would never forget and would forever assail him with guilt.
He and Yohji hadn't spoken of that night since then. It was like the events of that night never happened. At least, it seemed that way when they were together. But sometimes, when he was alone, it was all that Schuldich could think about. How couldn't he think about it? Things had changed between them since then. He could tell that Yohji was holding a part of himself back. And he guessed that he was doing the same. But he couldn't keep ignoring the tension that now hovered between them.
Schuldich silently cursed at himself for causing the ever-growing rift in his relationship with Yohji. He didn't know how to mends things. Not without lying to Yohji by giving him words that had no feeling behind them. Yohji would eventually come to hate him if he did. And he wouldn't be able to bear it.
But what could he do? He could sense Yohji's withdrawal, his pain, and his sadness. Sometimes, he could even sense the love that Yohji felt for him among all of the heartache. But it was becoming harder and harder for him to detect. It was as if Yohji was protecting himself by burying his feelings deep within himself. Isn't that what you wanted, Schu? Yes, it was, Schuldich told himself.
He didn't want Yohji to love him not when he couldn't return that love in the same measure. But something had to be done soon, Schuldich told himself. The whole situation was beginning to wear them down. The strain between them was escalating and soon the damage to their relationship would be irreparable. And that was something Schuldich wasn't going permit to happen. He cared for Yohji very much and needed him in his life. He had to figure out a way to give Yohji what he needed without compromising his love for Bradley. Shit, I'm not asking for much, am I?
"What are you doing over there?"
Yohji's voice snapped Schuldich back from his thoughts and he turned around to face his lover. Yohji was still curled snuggly in the sheets. His golden head rested comfortably on his right arm while his other arm was lazily draped over his slender waist. Curious jade eyes stared at him from across the room and Schuldich hoped that Yohji wouldn't sense the sadness in his own eyes.
Think happy thoughts, idiot and he won't. A wicked grin curved his lips and Schuldich placed his hand underneath his chin as he looked upon the sleepy-eyed blonde. "I was just thinking that maybe we could stay home today instead of going over to the flower shop this morning." Yohji smiled and Schuldich's spirits lightened instantly.
"I don't know, Schu. The shop has that sale going on today, you know. Ran would probably rip us new assholes if we skipped out on him today."
Damn. The sale. He had forgotten all about the annual sale the shop promoted to raise money for the clinic Aya worked for that helped catatonic children. Ran would definitely kill them if he and Yohji didn't come to help out.
"But," Yohji continued as he stretched languidly in bed causing the silky sheets to cling to his every hard curve. "If you ask me really nice, I might be convinced to have accidentally forgotten to set the alarm clock last night causing our inevitable tardiness this morning."
Schuldich's grin grew into a wide smile. Yohji could make him so proud sometimes. Still smiling, he slowly walked over to the foot of the bed and let his silk boxers fall to the floor. He looked into Yohji's lust filled eyes and climbed onto the bed. Slowly, like a lion hunting its prey, Schuldich crawled on all fours in between Yohji's legs until he was able to fit his hips comfortably in between them.
"Yotan?" Schuldich purred as he pressed his hardened shaft against his lover's body loving the feel of the satin material against his heated skin. He could feel the bulge of Yohji's hardening member beneath him and Schuldich nearly growled in pleasure.
"Yeah?" Yohji hissed in reply.
Schuldich thrust himself against Yohji and reveled in the moan that escaped the blonde's parted lips. "Am I asking nicely enough?"
Schuldich bend down and licked Yohji's pink nipple. He groaned as Yohji arched his back bringing their lower bodies even closer together. His lips traveled up to Yohji's slender neck nipping and licking along the smooth skin. He hissed as Yohji's hands brushed across his nipples. He was panting by the time those maddening hands reached around his back to trail a path down to his hips and down further to cup his lean buttocks.
"Almost," Yohji moaned. "You need to work at it a little more."
Lifting his hips enough to reach the material in between them, Schuldich grabbed the sheets and pulled them out of the way until only his skin covered Yohji's naked form. His lover's long legs wrapped around his waist and Schuldich's hands fisted into Yohji's riot of wavy hair. He looked into his lover's smoldering green eyes and said, "I always aim to please."

Through the dark and desolate alleyways of the harsh city streets, a lone man limped unsteadily even as he fought to remain conscious. One thought remaining constant in his ravaged mind. The Koneko. He had to get to the Koneko.
Despite his waning strength, Bradley Crawford pushed himself forward determined to reach the one place he was sure to find salvation.
