"No!" I whispered as the explosion rocked the ground. "NO! AINA!" I ran, harder than I've ever run in my entire life. She couldn't die... Not now. We were so close to peace, so close to being able to live our own lives. "Aina..." My voice comes out in quick gasps. "Aina please...Wake up!" I cradle her delicate body in my arms like a doll and run my hands over her smooth skin.
"Shiro...Did we do it?"
"Yes my love, we did."

"Please don't be dead Shiro..." So that's my big secret. I'm not the stunning ladies man everyone thinks I am. I'm in love with Shiro Amada. But all I can do is watch, for he loves Aina Sahalin. I don't have anything against her; she's a smart and pretty woman. But god how I wish it was me.
"SHIRO!!!"
Michel yells at the top of his lungs. Sometimes I want to smack him but I know he was close to Shiro as well.
As we clear a small hill I can see him kneeling on the ground. The air comes out of my lungs in a big whoosh.
"Thank god Shiro..." I continue to run but Sanders puts his arm out in front of me. "But..."
"Leave the boy be, Eledore."
I must have looked confused because Sanders just nodded and pointed in his direction. My heart stopped, he was crying. I know what has happened, there is only one thing that could make him that upset. Aina.
"Karen, Eledore. Go and get the jeep and bring it back here. We have to let Shiro deal with this in his own way. Michel, we'll pitch up the tents for tonight."
"NO!" My mind screams as I run with Karen back to the battleground. I want to hold him and comfort him, what if he does need someone right now? I'm almost crying myself as I think about Shiro upset.
"Eledore."
I'm torn. I feel bad for Aina; I know how much Shiro cared about her. I could have given my life, not Aina. I could have given my life if it meant Shiro would still be happy. I jump into the jeep with Karen; my only thoughts are getting back to Shiro.
"Eledore..."
What will he do? He can't go home, he's a fugitive now. Everyone thinks he's a spy. What if we have to part...I don't know how I'll-
"ELEDORE!"
"Ahh! Jesus Karen, don't do that!" I like Karen a lot; I used to have a crush on her before Shiro came aboard.
"Poor Shiro. It's going to take him a long time to get over it."
"Shiro..." Why doesn't this damn jeep go faster?!
"You should tell him you know."
"Tell him?" I'm a little afraid of what she's going to say next. I slowly lift my gaze to meet hers.
"Don't play dumb, Eledore. I see the way you look at him. You've got it bad. I don't blame you though, he's pretty handsome."
I think my mouth just dropped 3 feet. I can feel the heat rising into my cheeks. "Sheknowsheknowsheknows...This is SO embarrassing." I look away and she just laughs. His isn't just pretty handsome; he's damn hot. Those deep blue eyes that are so kind, the way his hair flips out around the base of his neck, his goofy smile, tiny upturned nose, his body, not too muscular, perfect. If I don't stop thinking about him I'm going to get a hard on.
"Sanders has pitched some tents."
Karen's voice breaks through my dream and I realize we're here. I scan the horizon, I can make out Shiro still kneeling, a makeshift cross sticking out of the sand. Michel is busy trying to secure a rope to a post and Sanders is getting out the pots to cook dinner.
"He hasn't moved from that spot since he buried her. Offered him some help I did, but he just shook his head stubborn as ever."
"Shouldn't someone-"
"Just let him be, Eledore. He'll come back when he's ready."
I suppose he's right, but it still hurts. Seeing him like this and not being able to reach out to him. But I promise that when he does need someone to talk to, I'll be there. I take one last look at him and head to the tents.

"I'm going to bed early. I gotta finish my letter to B.B!"
We all roll our eyes as he runs off. Poor kid, he's in love with someone who couldn't love him back. Maybe that's why I'm close to him. He's like me only reality hasn't hit him yet.
"I'm off. Night all."
Karen stood up and winked at me. My cheeks are on fire almost instantly. I stand up as well, no use being out here when all I can do is watch from a distance.
"Goodnight Shiro." I whisper as I ducked into my tent.
I love my sappy Eledore ...Heck I just love Eledore
