Jumping to Conclusions

"Don't you dare walk out that door . . . ," the words echoed in Quatre's head over and over again.

Arguments had broken out. It was a nasty argument ending in Quatre leaving Duo by himself. Quatre sat in his car, covering his ears, hoping to block out the fierceness of Duo's words.

"If you leave me . . . you can never come back," Quatre couldn't gain control of his thoughts, images of the dark, uncaring look in Duo's eyes. The glare.

Quatre slammed the door as loudly as any door can be slammed. The boy continued to cry and sob. He laid down across the front seat. It began to rain and the sound of thunder started to kick in. Though he was a teenager now, storms still scared him.

This storm scared him the most because he, for the first time, was alone and knew nothing of the future. Quatre loved Duo more than anyone. Duo was someone he always had relied on and trusted.

"Why was I so stupid? How could he do that to me?" Quatre asked himself.

It was a week ago when Quatre went out with Duo to a random house party. Duo had gotten drunk and collapsed on the couch. All Quatre had was a coke but he passed out cold somewhere in the house. That's the only thing he remembered.

The next morning, Duo woke him up. He realized he was naked on a bed, his whole body sore. Duo reached over to him to hand Quatre his clothes and Quatre flinched. Duo didn't see it though because his head was turned away. Both of them were disgusted at one another.

On the ride home, no one spoke. They both just inwardly shed tears of fear and sorrow. Neither of them knew the truth.

When they reached home, all Quatre had to say was, "How dare you!" Then he rushed off to his bedroom to sulk.

His thoughts were that Duo wasn't really Drunk nor had he fainted. It was all just an act. He knew Duo wanted him in that way but Quatre just wasn't ready for it yet. The blond boy had nothing to believe but that he was raped by his own love, the person he trusted most. The blond cried for hours on end thinking of how Duo could have been so insensitive and selfish.

Duo on the other hand, was angry at Quatre in return for another reason. He thought that while he was out cold, Quatre had willingly lost his virginity to someone he didn't even know.

"Fucking bitch. Damn you!" Duo cursed himself and Quatre.

Himself, for being so stupid to get as drunk as he did, and Quatre, for going behind his back right before him.

Both sulked for two days straight. Neither of them speaking to the other. Quatre attempted hiding from Duo in fear of him. Finally on the third day, Quatre decided to face Duo.

He sat down with him at the kitchen table and watched Duo eat his breakfast. Duo kept his gaze at his bowl of cereal and the newspaper before him.

"Why?" Quatre asked quietly.

Duo looked up at him, "Why what?" he sneered.

"Well, at the party the other night . . . um . . . uh . . . sorry . . . forget it . . . never mind," Quatre stuttered then got up from the table and started to head back up stairs.

"So, you're apologizing, finally?" Duo asked him.

"No, I have no need to apologize to you. I did nothing wrong," Quatre was only digging himself a deeper hole in Duo's eyes.

"You . . . gah . . . damn you . . . out of my sight now," Duo scolded.

Quatre just stood there staring at him. Duo had never yelled at him before, never in the two years they'd been together. Quatre had even more fear now. He was in shock that Duo's harsh words were directed at him. He was taken out of daydreaming by a sharp stinging feeling on his cheek.

"Out of my sight, now," Duo continued to scold.

Quatre looked up at him in fear, tears welling in his eyes. Without any more talk, Quatre rushed up the stairs. He felt sick, really sick. He ran into the bathroom and allowed his sickness to leave him. Then he curled up in the floor and cried himself to sleep.

For the next two days, Quatre did nothing but sleep. He hadn't the strength for anything else. Eating wasn't appealing or any of his normal everyday things. He wanted to curl up and hid himself from the world.

He awoke this evening with the great thought that he could get away now. Duo would be asleep and this was the perfect time to escape all of this.

Quatre dressed himself and grabbed the car keys then headed downstairs. He walked past Duo who slept peacefully on the couch.

"Where are you going?" a harsh whisper came from Duo.

"Out," Quatre replied.

"Are you coming back?" Duo was now sitting up.

"Probably not. I can't live hear anymore. It just doesn't seem right."

"Why? Is your guilt eating at you?"

"No, I'm living in fear, right now. Fear it will happen again."

Duo chuckled, "You bastard," he cursed and grabbed Quatre by the shoulders. "Why the hell are you living in fear? Are you a wuss or something?"

"No, no I'm not," Quatre tried getting out of Duo's grasp.

He then felt another sting to his cheek, sharper than the one a few days before.

"Don't you dare walk out that door. Don't you dare leave me. If you do now, I swear you can never come back," Duo scolded.

"Gods, no," Quatre scrambled out the door and to his car.

He hadn't the nerve to start it, all he did was curl up to his current position, cold and scared. Scared of the storm, scared of Duo, scared of his future.

Quatre then heard a knock on the window. He looked up. Surprisingly enough, it was Duo. He was soaking wet.

'How long has he been standing out there?' Quatre thought to himself.

The door opened and Quatre sat up. Duo got in and sat beside the blond haired boy. Quatre watched him intently. First, Duo looked out the front windshield then sighed, then closed his eyes.

"What do you think happened at the party?" Duo asked, his voice sounding nervous and shaky.

"I . . . I . . . um, well, when, I woke up that morning, I thought you had," Quatre swallowed hard, "I thought you had raped me." Quatre glanced at Duo then quickly back to the floor.

"Really? Hm . . . ," Duo thought for a second then figured out how Quatre had gotten that conclusion, "Well, I thought you had willingly had sex with the three guys that walked down the stairs when I was looking for you," Duo said and chuckled.

Duo tried reaching for Quatre's hand but Quatre jerked it away. The blond slowly scooted away from Duo. He still didn't trust him. It would take more than changing a story to make Quatre trust Duo again.

"You don't believe me, do you? And I'm sure neither scolding at you nor hitting you helped," Duo silently cursed himself. "I love you more than anything, Quatre. I want you to be happy."

"I was happy. That party just changed everything. I don't know how you can prove to me you're not the one that . . . ," Quatre's voice trailed off.

The rain was still raining and the storm still raging on. Lightning illuminating the whole neighborhood, clouds hanging low to meet the mist of the falling water droplets. The two were quiet, then all of a sudden a loud clap of thunder filled the sky. Quatre quickly put his hands over his ears and moved close to Duo, laying his head in Duo's lap.

Duo was startled by this but reacted by placing one hand in one of Quatre's and his other hand in Quatre's hair. This always seemed to calm the boy down during storms and when he was scared. It didn't fail this time, though Duo was sure it would.

Quatre jumped when he realized just how close he had gotten to Duo. He pulled himself away and looked into the chestnut-colored haired boy's eyes. Lonely pools of violet stared back at him.

Suddenly, Quatre was surrounded by darkness. His lips felt the slightest pressure. His body being wrapped in Duo's arms. Why? Why did this kiss feel so right? Quatre jerked himself out of it.

The rain had slowed down and neither the lightning nor the thunder were as intense. Quatre got out of the car and started to walk off. Where? He didn't know. He started to mumble to himself.

"Why can't I trust him? Is it because I won't allow myself? Am I scared of him or something?" Quatre asked himself.

He turned around and saw Duo still in the car. The boy had his arms propped up on the dashboard and was watching Quatre intently. His expression, lost and lonely.

The blond suddenly felt weak in the knees. It'd been a while since the last time he felt like this. Quatre fell to his knees and began to sob again. He heard the car door slam and footsteps rushing toward him.

Duo dropped to his knees before Quatre, "You ok, koi?"

'Koi?' Quatre thought to himself, 'Really?'

The blond wrapped his arms around Duo's neck and buried his head into the crook of Duo's neck. He, for the first time in a week, felt comfortable with Duo.

"I love you, Duo," Quatre said calmly.

"C'mon, let's go inside. Ii desu ne?" Duo suggested.

Quatre nodded. They got up and walked to the house. Quatre wrapped his arms around Duo's waist as the walked. They got inside and dripped water over the floor. Duo chuckled and went into the kitchen. He grabbed a towel and they used that to relatively dry off. Then both went into the living room and sat on the couch. They curled up in the blanket Duo had used for sleeping downstairs.

"Ya know?! It's amazing. We both had different stories. I guess that's what jumping to conclusions does," Duo said.

"Yeah, sorry for not trusting you," Quatre said.

"I'm sorry for everything I've done over the last week. I should have asked. I curse myself for hurting you. Can you some how find a way to forgive me?" Duo pled.

"I guess so," Quatre laid his head in Duo's lap and looked up at him.

Quatre reached his hand up and put a single strand of Duo's hair behind his ear. Duo lifted Quatre up a bit and laid on his side on the couch. Quatre laid beside him so that they faced each other They embraced each other tightly. It had been a long week.
