During the early stages of the war, the Shield Liger was the Republic's strongest Zoid, and the scientists created it for one main purpose, to take out the all-powerful Sabre Fang. Boosting decent speed and a wide range of weapons, the Shield Liger was also the first Zoid to have a energy deflector shield. While the force shield was effective against many weapons, it only guarded the Liger's frontal area, leaving it open to attacks from behind, and is no match against powerful weapons like the charged particle gun. Also, since the basis of the design was taken from the oldest Liger, Claw, the legs and underbelly area are not protected at all, so a few well-rounded shots to the exposed stabilizer caps could seriously cripple the leg. Still, the Shield Liger is well balanced, and the controls simple and easy to use.
