The Guysacks main function when it was created was a low cost/ low maintance desert recon. But when it's burrowing abilitys were used by an elite desert task force to ambush and overturn Imperial Red Horns waging war in the area, the Republic took the little Zoid to a new level. Instead of endangering pilots with the Guysack's weak armor and little weapons, the Republic scientists installed computers in the cockpit to handle the basic functions of a pilot. These fully automated Zoids where then stationed underground around supply bases and outposts. Unless a sercurity beacon was received, the Guysacks would spring from the earth and ambush any Zoid on their scanners. So were invented the first "Sleeper" Zoids. These "Sleepers" fooled the Imperial forces again and again, until the Empire captured one and installed the technology into their Rev Raptors.
