The sensors on the Konig Wolf's control panel beeped to tell that the base was just ahead. Kali shook her head and switched the autopilot to manual. The dream of the previous night was now just a faint blur. Steering Konig around the corner of the large building, Kali then piloted the white wolf into the hanger that made up the entire front side. Coming to a halt a little ways in the hanger, Konig lowered his head and opened the cockpit. Kali patted the smooth metal on his head, and jumped down. She landed lightly on her feet, the echo of her boots ringing around the hanger. She then looked around the hanger. In the corner was Jamie's Raynos, parts scattered around it from unfinished upgrades. A little to the left of it was her mother's Gun Sniper, still loaded with every kind of missile and cannon she could get her hands on. Beside Konig was Brad's Shadow Fox, which was the basis for all Scout and Glow Foxes owned by the Zoid Battle Commission today, and the Command Wolf AC that he had rebuilt. As she was looking over the AC, a slight growl caused her to jump. Looking behind her, Kali smiled at who she saw. Her father's best friend had greeted her in his usual way. As Kali walked toward him, the Liger Zero roared to annouce his pilots daughter. He then lowered his head and gently nuzzled her, something he only did with her. Kali giggled as the force from Liger's large head pushed her backwards. "He seems to have a liking to you", came a voice from behind her. Liger roared again, this time louder to annouce his pilot. "Dad!", Kali shouted when she heard him. She threw her arms around his neck and hugged him. "Sorry I worried you.", she said softly. She let go and looked at his face. While he looked almost the same as he did when he was sixteen, he had grown more patient and mature in the last twenty years, and his green eyes reflected that. "Konig is a great Zoid and loyal friend", he said to her, "and he would have let nothing happen to you." Kali blinked at him, her face quite puzzled. "Your not mad at me?", she said slowly, not wanting to tread on dangerous ground. Bit was not one to be taken for granted. "No," he said, "things don't happen without reasons." Bit then looked up at the ceiling, his broad hands brushing some invisible dirt of his black shirt, "Besides, Jamie said it was a malfunction, so I guess I have to take his word for it." "Oh," he stated, as he reached into his jeans pocket. "Before I forget," he triumphantly pulled out a small envolpe. "Here," he said handing it to her, "Happy Birthday." Kali hugged him again, "You remembred!" Bit cut his eyes at her, "What kind of dad do you think I am, Doc Toros?" They both laughed at this personnal joke. "Open it," he calmly said. Using her fingernail, Kali carefully cut the top open. "It's a receipt from the Romeo City parts house", she read off from the slip of paper, " for two AZ5 missile pods..." Kali pounced on him this time, squeezing his neck so hard it choked him. "glad you like it...", Bit managed to squeak out.
Then, a low rumble caught their attention. A cloud of dust was seen raising above the horizon. "That can only mean one thing...", Bit started. He and Kali both looked at each other and said together, "Harry." At full speed came Harry's Dark Horn, which he somehow won back from the Back Draft group. Hitting the brakes to hard, as usual, the Dark Horn flipped and skidded to halt on it's side. The cockpit opened, and Harry fell out in crumpled heap. Kali giggled, Bit scratched the back of his, and Liger roared in amusement. Harry jumped up, brushed himself off, took six long strides, and stood right in front of Kali. He bent down on one knee, and presented ceremoniously slip of paper identical to the one Bit gave her. "Happy Birthday, Kali.", he said in a happy voice and gave her a quick hug. He stood up, and walked to Bit. "Where's Leena?", he asked in a monotone voice. Bit pointed behind him. "First door up the stairs.", he said slowly. Harry nodded, waved to Kali and opened the door. "What is it?", Bit asked. Kali read off the slip, "Raindance City Weapons Warehouse." "Wow," Bit said, "Raindance City is mostly aristocrats." It's a receipt for a AAZ60mm Hyper laser Cannon..." Kali looked at Bit, whose jaw had dropped about a foot. "Kali, thats a extremely powerful weapon that costs about as much as a Gojulas MKII..." Kali just stared at him. Bit blinked and looked at his watch. He smiled and started counting down. "Three..., two...,". As soon he said one, a loud boom shook the complex, and Leena's voice screamed "HARRY! HOW MANY TIMES DO I HAVE TO TELL YOU, DON'T BOTHER ME WHEN I'M IN THE SHOWER!" Kali and Bit walked in laughing together.
From Leena, Kali got a new outfit consisting of piloting gloves, a matching skirt and shirt, and leather boots. Brad gave her a sapphire necklace, and Jamie gave her some strange trading cards called Zoids Attack Force. And from Doc she got five new Zoid models, for she had inheirted his love of them. That night, as she sat at her now customized Konig Wolf's feet placing together a Diloforce model, her father came up and sat next to her. They sat in silence for a while, until Bit pulled out a small box. "Your sixteen now, Kali, and you have a fully combat ready Zoid." He handed her the small box. She opened it gingerly, not knowing what to expect. Bit wore a blank face. Inside the box was a small machine, brand new. "Its a Zoid Gear, now your an official warrior on the Blitz team." Kali was speachless. She looked up to Bit, who had now stood up. "The next battle is tomorrow with the Chaplin team. They use Great Sabers and Snipe Masters, so be ready for anything." With that he turned and left, leaving Kali gazing at her life-long dream now in her hands.
