Producer: Ultra
System: GameBoy
Year: 1990
Overview: The first TMNT game for the GameBoy makes for an impressive portable debut.
Story: Yep, Shredder's wantin' to have his way with April again. Time to kick his ass one more time.
Graphics: Very nice graphics for an early GB game. Better than the first NES game, in fact. Sprites and backgrounds both look great.
Sound: Music's so-so. It's a GameBoy game, so don't expect to hear awesome music. It's not horrid, though.
Gameplay: The game's pretty basic; a standard side-scrolling platformer. You select a Turtle at the beginning of each level and they act as your 'lives', just like in the first NES game; when all four are defeated, it's Game Over. However unlike the NES game, there's no real difference between the Turtles. The game's not very long or difficult; it's only five stages long, and they're not super-hard either. Heck you can pick what stage you want to start at right from the get-go. Still, this makes it great pick-up-and-play game.
Challenge: Fairly easy. There are a few tricky spots, with enemies bum-rushing you from all directions. Just take these parts slow and easy, and you'll be fine.
Final Rating: 8.5/10 Any TMNT fan with a GameBoy should certainly look for this game. It's a perfect on-the-go game.
