Producer: Konami
System: NES
Year: 1992
Overview: The third of the TMNT games for the NES is in my opinion, the best; taking the formula of TMNT2, and improving it drasticly.
Story: Shredder and Krang made a device to pluck Manhattan right out of the ground and suspend it in the sky. Just why they wanted to do this is uncertain... Most likely so Shredder can have some 'alone' time with April, who yes, he's nabbed again as well.
Graphics: Another notch over the last game. I can't think of anything to complain about here.
Sound: Very good music. This is also perhaps the best in the NES series.
Gameplay: As I mentioned before, this game is a side-scrolling beat-em up, just like TMNT2, so it have very similar gameplay. It is a bit different, however with the fact that the Turtles are once again unique in that they have their own special moves that can be performed. This consumes health, however, so you can't rely completely on that. The enemies are a little more varies in this game as well. In the last one, you just had differently-colored Foot Soldiers. This time, you have rock warriors, robots, and a variety of other bad guys.
Challenge: The challenge is moderate. I'd say around the same as the second game, perhaps a little better balanced.
Final Rating: 9/10 My favorite of the NES series. This one's a must-play, especially for TMNT fans.
