Producer: JVC
System: SNES
Year: 1993
Overview: After a mediocre-at-best 8-bit release, the Empire does strike back, and dominates the SNES.
Story: Like the 8-bit games, Super Empire does focus primarily on Luke, however the action does switch to Han or Chewie at times. The sequence of stages is much like the 8-bit games, but it has certainly taken a turn for the better.
Graphics: Every bit as good as SSW.
Sound: Again, great music, with more pieces sounding much like the movie soundtrack.
Gameplay: There’s really not much I can say, since the game plays nearly identical to its Episode 4 predecessor.
Challenge: This one seems considerably tougher than SSW. However, there is (finally) a save feature, in the form of a password, so I’d say that evens things out pretty well.
Final Rating: 9/10 Super Empire is probably the best Star Wars games I’ve played yet, although I admit I’ve only played a small fraction of the dozens and dozens of Star Wars games out there. Still, this one’s a must-play.
