Resident Evil 2

Producer: Capcom
System: Playstation, N64, Dreamcast, PC
Year: 1997

Overview: The second game in the Resident Evil series continues the horrifying saga.

Story: The two survivors of the incidents surrounding the previous game, Chris Redfield and Jill Valentine, had discovered that the nearby mansion was a laboratory used by Umbrella Corporation to create a new and lethal bio-weapon. Something went horribly wrong, however, and now the virus is beginning to spread to the city. Meanwhile, rookie cop Leon Kennedy drives to Raccoon City police department for his first day on the force when he encounters a young woman named Claire Redfield, who’s searching for her brother, Chris. Now, the two of them find themselves single-handedly battling the vicious zombies and mutants created by the T-Virus.

Graphics: A bit less blocky than the first game, I really have no complaints, though.

Sound: Same as before, the only background music present is the quiet kind that creates a foreboding atmosphere.

Gameplay: I’m repeating myself again, as this game plays the same as RE1. You can play as Leon or as Claire, and once again, both games are different. This time, however, the game comes with two disks; one contains Leon’s game, the other has Claire’s game.

Challenge: Same as the first, the challenge is in solving puzzles and conserving equipment.

Final Rating: 8.5/10 Every bit as good as the original game, and then some.
