Producer: Bandai
System: GameBoy Advance
Year: 2003
Overview: Only a few months after the first Battle Spirit, a second one was made for the GBA. It plays much like the first, only it focuses exclusively on Digimon Frontier.
Story: This game actually follows the Frontier storyline to some extent. Cherubimon is the main bad guy, and you must take him on with one of the Chosen digimon from Frontier.
Graphics: About the same as the first, which was very good.
Sound: The music's considerably better this time. Still not worth holding your breath for a soundtrack CD, though.
Gameplay: It's plays a lot like the first game, with just a few tweaks here and there. First of all, instead of chasing Culumon around to evolve, your digimon has a meter that builds up when they attack the enemy or block their attacks, much like Rumble Arena. When it is filled, your digimon can slide evolve to his/her beast form. SOrt of. They stay like they normally are with a ring of digi-code around them. But when they attack, then they temporarally change to their evolved for to attack. Seems to me like the programmers got a little lazy and didn't want to make whole new sprite sheets for the beast hybrids. There are also crystals that are dropped by your opponent and enemy digimon walking around the playing field. Collect five and you can evolve to one of the ancient warriors to unleash a super-powerful attack.
Challenge: Cherubimon is really hard no matter what difficulty setting you have, it seems. Other than that's it's much the smae as the last game.
Final Rating: 8/10 Better than the first in some areas, but the game suffers a bit from the lack of playable characters compared to DBS1. It would've been so cool to be able to play as the dark hybrids. Since the game focuses entirely on Digimon Frontier, you probably won't like this one if you're not a Frontier fan.
