| He believes that his hanyou half brother isn't worthy of the sword and sets out to find ways of obtaining it for himself. Tetsusaiga was the sword InuYasha used to hack off Sessoumaru's left arm, and since then Sesshoumaru has made several attempts to obtain the sword even though he is unable to wield it with his full youkai blood. This leads to a one-time alliance with Naraku. Naraku gave Sesshoumaru a human arm with a piece of the Shikon no Tama embedded in it. With this arm Sesshoumaru was able to transform the Tetsusaiga and show its true power to InuYasha when he released the Kaze no Kizu. Eventually however Sesshoumaru seems to stop pursuing the Tetsusaiga. Does he not want it any more, or has he given up on it? The true reason is never stated although three significant events happen around the time he stopped pursuing the sword. 1) He was nearly killed by the sword when InuYasha accidentally unleashed the Kaze no Kizu. 2) He obtained the Toukijin which is seen as the Tetsusaiga's equal in terms of power. and 3) Sesshoumaru discovered that the Tetsasugia was not only a powerful sword, but it also served as the seal for InuYasha's youkai blood. The sword keeps the youkai blood from taking over his mind and making him go on a killing spree. When Sesshoumaru discovered this he paid a visit to InuYasha to see it for himself. However he did not make an attempt on InuYasha's life, he even told Kagome that she should use the Tetsusaiga to revert him back to normal. And then he left them alone. |
