Excel Saga

In 2000, Shinichi Watanabe directed an anime series beyond insane called Excel Saga. It was based on a pretty girl anime by the same name that was drawn up by Rikado Koshi.

In the city of F, in the prefecture of F, there is a secret organisation called Across. It's leader is none other than Lord Ilpalazzo, who is bent on conquering the ignorant masses. (I.E. The human population.) He has two young women working for him, one is the insane Excel Excel, the other the quiet Hyatt. However, Excel and Hyatt don't get paid very well, and can't usually afford to buy food, so if there's a real need for a snack, they have their emergency food supply, Menchi, a female pup that Excel picked up in the first episode. As if conquering F city wasn't enough, Excel's mental instability doesn't help either, and with both Excel and Hyatt dying numerous times, it makes the chances of conquering the ignorant masses almost nil! But that's okay, because Excel won't let her Ilpalazzo down, and she has enough enthusiasm for the solar system to run on.

Many parodies are seen in this anime, (see the 8th episode) such as E.T., Titanic, Nadesico, Terminator 2, Slam Dunk, Lassie, Sailor Moon, Doraemon, Man in the Iron Mask, Cowboy Bebop, Trigun, The Matrix, Pokemon, 'Weather Break' and many more.

A spin-off has been made from Excel Saga. It's name is Puni Puni Poemi. Plus, Excel, Hyatt and Ilpalazzo were named after hotels.

ROLE CALL

Excel Excel

Name: Hanaka Doskoi, or Excel Excel

Excel is an insane girl who would probably be in her late-teens or early twenties. She has an obsession with Lord Ilpalazzo, and will do anything she can to make his ideals come true. (Of course, it never works.) Poor Excel. She loves Lord Ilpalazzo, but Lord Ilpalazzo basically ingores her unless he's about the dump her into the bottomless pit in the Across Headquarters. Oh well, at least she's got Menchi, right? Excel is very talented at cleaning toilets.

Hyatt

Hyatt is a martian princess. She appeared at Across Headquarters one day and was immediately given a job and a mission, to find her missing Senior Agent, Excel. (Who was somewhere in the middle of a gorilla war.) Hyatt is often seen bleeding or dying or drowning or in a hospital bed or drinking tomato juice. She is very quiet and very pretty, but she does die a lot.

Menchi

Just what is she? People think she's a cat but she's actually a dog! But who cares anyway, because Menchi's the emergency food supply. Menchi does an extremely kawaii ending sequence to Excel Saga, titled 'Menchi's Bolero of Sorrrow; So You Are Going To Eat Me?'. Menchi has tried many times to get away from Excel and Hyatt so that she doesn't have to be in constant fear of when she's going to be fried or turned into Menchi cutlet (See episode number three where they play' You Take the End'). And when Menchi does get away (which is rarely) she ends up returning because of some reason or another. (I.E. Getting shot or realising that the old man whom you thought cared for you was a coward.)

Lord Ilpalazzo

Lord Ilpalazzo is the leader of Across, and also the object of Excel's affections. Sadly for Excel, Ilpalazzo is more interested in Hyatt. Lord Ilpalazzo's attention span is very short, he plays a lot of date simulating games and once bought 'an electric guitar kit that everyone can play'. It didn't work out as he planned. But just because his attention span is short doesn't mean that he isn't dangerous. If you insult him or get him aggravated it's down the pit you go. Either that or you get replaced by plushies.

Watanabe

Watanabe likes Hyatt. A lot. He even got himself off his lazy butt and went and got a job as a social worker for her. He doesn't really like his roommates very much. They annoy him.

Iwata

Iwata is Watanabe's annoying roommate. He likes Misaki Matsuya. He also got a job as a social worker at the same time Watanabe did, but not for the same reason. He wanted to stop being unemployed. Unfortunately, Iwata gets beaten up Watanabe sometimes, like when he took some money out of Watanabe's wallet. According to Hyatt, the soles of Iwata's feet are very pungeant.

Sumiyoshi

Sumiyoshi doesn't speak with his voice. He speaks with written words. He's Watanabe's other roommate, but isn't as annoying as Iwata. He's a social worker as well as Watanabe and Iwata.

Misaki Matsuya

Misaki Matsuya is good at acting cool. She's also good at hurting people. Misaki is almost always calm (and violent) and works at the same place and Watanabe and co.

Pedro

Pedro left his son and his sexy wife in order to get some money by working as a construction worker in Japan. It didn't work like he thought it would though, because he got caught in a fire due to Excel doing some sort of cheerleader routine to hail Ilpalazzo's greatness which caused an accident where multiple cars and trucks were involved, and woke up next to the Great Will of the Macrocosm. Then he found out that his sexy wife was having an affair with his co-worker, Gomez. After that Pedro was hit with the fact that his sexy wife was now pregnant with Gomez's child. Poor Pedro!

The Great Will of the Macrocosm

Otherwise known as Iz-chan or Will-chan. Will-chan has the power to bring people back to life, but is sometimes stuck fixing doors. She and Pedro had something going on, but then Will-chan's other man stepped in and tied Pedro to a giant pudding and put him into the sea. Will-chan is very good at sounding dramatic, and loves to shout out 'Love and Peace'. She has no real 'body', and is basically a magical blue circle thing with arms.

Nabeshin

Nabeshin is the original anime character portraying the director himself. He has an afro, and likes it so much that he's even made up a song about it. He has a 'stalker'. Her name is Kumi Kumi, and she's a simple mountain girl. Kumi Kumi stalks Nabeshin because she wants him to eat her soup.

Koshi Rikado

Koshi Rikado is Excel Saga's original creator. He gets murdered in the first episode TWICE by Excel. He still, however, makes a few more appearances, i.e. every episode beginning, where he states that he gives permission for Excel Saga to be turned into whatever the director and co. want.
