First Appearance
Episode 36
Kagome Ryakudatsu! Chousoku no Yourou Kouga
(Kagome Kidnapped! The Super-Fast Wolf Demon Kouga)
Ginta and Hakkaku are the only other survivors of Kouga's clan and travel with him everywhere. They are not as brave as their leader and do not harbor ill feelings towards Inuyasha. Both of them call Kagome "Kagome-neesan" or just "nee-san".
Unlike Kouga, Ginta and Hakkaku are not fast. They often find themselves left in the dust of his constant sprinting, along with the wolves, and are hard-pressed to keep up with him. Both of them act as voices of reason and often seem to have better heads on their shoulders than Kouga himself. The only weapons the two have been seen using are spears.
From the beginning, it seems that these two are inseperable. When it is only them following Kouga, they stick together constantly. It has been speculated that they could be brothers, but this could possibly be "pack mentality". The pack is the family, by blood or not, so when it comes down to three, the trio becomes even more close-knit... even if poor Ginta and Hakkaku find themselves taking the hits from Kouga when he does something he probably shouldn't have.
These two wolf demons tend to call themselves the "right and left hand of Kouga". It is more than likely that as far as the tribe went, while Kouga was the leader, Ginta and Hakkaku were the next down in rank.
Ginta and Hakkaku worry a great deal about Kouga's safety, even if he doesn't realize it. They'll do pretty much anything to keep him out of harm's way, even if it puts their lives in danger (Episode 99: Sesshoumaru to Kouga Kiken Souguu/Sesshoumaru and Kouga's Dangerous Encounter).
Random Useless Trivia: Neither Ginta nor Hakkaku have a tail on the pelts they wear. Either Kouga is the only tailed wolf-demon, or this symbolizes some sort of seniority. Who knows.
