Humans are the rightful denizens of the Realm of Earth, very few of them know about or even believe in the existence of monsters, but those who do, either seek their destruction, or seek their help, or just seek a master that can protect them. They generaly use weapons of some sort in their attacks on monsters because of their lack of any supernatural powers.
