 Kikyo is the priestess Inuyasha fell in love with 50 years ago. She was the same priestess who sealed him to the tree with her arrow. Kikyo was tricked by Naraku, just like how Inuyasha was. Kikyo sought revenge after being "betrayed" by Inuyasha (who was really Naraku) and therefore, shot him with the arrow. Soon after, Kikyo died and she was burnt along with the Shikon No Tama which had caused so many problems. A sad end to their love... Some 50 years later, Inuyasha was released from the spell and met Kagome, supposedly the reincarnation of Kikyo. However, Kikyo was reborn in a sense. A hag stole Kikyo's ashes and promptly recreated a body in which Kikyo's spirit was placed. She stole part of Kagome's soul and gave it to the new Kikyo. However, Kagome's soul was too large for Kikyo to contain and Kagome got most of it back, however, left enough to support Kikyo. Thus Kikyo was alive again, except she needed souls to live, becoming somewhat of a soul-stealer. Kikyo in the past was really a kind-hearted person; she was pure enough to be the guardian of the Shikon No Tama. But when she came back, all her being wanted was revenge. She still believed that Inuyasha was the one who killed her and she sought him out to destroy him, and bring him to Hell with her. However, Kikyo still somewhat loves Inuyasha... And Inuyasha loves her back. Inuyasha also loves Kagome... So there is a love triangle.... And Kikyo hates Kagome for stealing Inuyasha from her. Its a very complicated relationship, but once Kikyo realises that they were tricked, and Inuyasha was not the main cause for her death, she starts to love him once more. Kikyo is a rather strange character as she doesn't really hate Naraku... Its not an obvious hate like Inuyasha has. Shes more of a neutral character, taking no sides. |
