The Protection Committee

These are the men and women and indeterminates of the New Protection Committee, which displaced Kuyo after a strategic attack upon the Enforcers that disabled both their captain and student council rep while the bulk of their members were under attack by rogue fighters. The New Protection Committee is devoted to security and safety, and emphasizes student rights over executive privilege. That said, the Committee is still populated by monsters, most of whom have only a sketchy understanding of what the big deal is with killing and eating others. The line between widespread chaos and total harmony has never been thinner, and the weakest student in the freshman class will have to use all his wits, patience, and probably aspirin if he wants his dream of a safe, orderly school environment for everyone to be more than a laughable pipe dream. Hang in there, Protection Committee!

Tsukune Aono

Role: Captain
Species: Human
Combat Rank: N/A
Specialty: Common Sense, Diplomacy
Transformation Class: N/A
Ethical Disposition: Kind and forgiving, with an excellent perspective on human rights and moral philosophy

Became captain of the Protection Committee by accident after he decided to take on the old Enforcers to stop their campaign of thuggery and corruption. Although almost extraordinarily ordinary physically and not especially brilliant if one were to judge by his grades, Tsukune has been forced to adapt quickly to being a weak, squishy human in a school full of immoral, murderous monsters. As a result he's learned to suppress his fear and surprise in dangerous situations and think on his feet. If nothing else, Tsukune certainly impresses for possessing the affections of Kurumu Kurono and Moka Akashiya (though the latter won't readily admit it), and the loyalty of Ranma Saotome. Others are sometimes impressed by his fortitude of character on occasion, but by and large it's because he has such powerful friends that he occupies a position of power and responsibility.

Ranma Saotome

Role: Vice-Captain
Species: Human (disputed)
Combat Rank: A (disputed)
Specialty: Hand-to-hand Combat, Spider Husbandry
Transformation Class: Curse (triggered by water of varying temperature)
Ethical Disposition: Has a decent enough understanding of human morals, but seems very lax about applying them. Ranma's moral values tend to revolve around romantic notions of heroism with an unusually long tolerance for violence. Rather insensitive and human-centric.

Became the vice-captain of the Protection Committee so he could watch Tsukune's back. Ranma doesn't really buy into Tsukune's more long-term notions of reforming the school and making it a safe and productive institution (Ranma already considers Youkai Academy a lost cause), but he's grown rather fond of his friend and roommate, and would never think of abandoning the younger human to the task of hammering the school into line by himself (or with only a useless vampiress to back him up). Ranma is considered the rising star of Youkai Academy among those students that put more stock into a student's combat ability than their brains or mastery of human likeness, which is almost all of them. However, his insistence that he is a human despite his superhuman martial feats and ability to change gender sometime causes exasperation among his peers, particularly among those that want to date him or have money riding on the identification of his species.

Moka Akashiya

Role: Student Council Representative
Species: Vampire
Combat Rank: D (S when transformed)
Specialty: None in particular, unless one counts causing anemia
Transformation Class: Near-human (Magic Seal type)
Ethical Disposition: Similar to Tsukune, Moka possesses a very human understanding of morality, probably due to her earlier schooling in the human world. She also has a similarly kind disposition and is slow to anger. Moka's sealed personality, however, views most other creatures as annoying upstarts and herself as the most important and powerful student in the school. Although not evil (despite what people often call her), she cares little for what humans would judge right or wrong.

Widely considered the most beautiful girl in the freshman class, if not the school, Moka was chosen to act as the representative of the Protection Committee on the student council, largely because Tsukune felt she was the most stable and reasonable of his subordinates but also because it would conveniently keep her out of the way of most other tasks in which she would be effectively useless. Although a vampire, Moka seems to lack any significant power, and in fact seems to find a special connection to Tsukune in how ordinary she is compared to their strange and beastly classmates. Moka's sealed personality is quite different, being a nigh-unstoppable powerhouse that looks upon others, and particularly Ranma, with contempt.

Kurumu Kurono

Role: Compliance Squad Leader
Species: Succubus
Combat Rank: C
Specialty: Flight, Hypnosis
Transformation Class: Near-human
Ethical Disposition: Not very far from human morality. Although she finds some behaviors and acts of restraint by humans strange, she generally dislikes violence, recognizes a right to property and happiness, and sees killing as a sad and barbaric, though sometimes necessary, act usually perpetrated by fanatics and stupid beasts.

Tsukune's other piece of eye candy, Kurumu takes her job and Tsukune's vision more seriously than most, and is generally considered more successful and capable than Moka, who she sees as a rival but also as a friend. After being soundly beaten by Ranma, she's also built up a sound (and surprisingly platonic) friendship with the pigtailed boy, who's come to see her as much more reliable and enjoyable company than Moka. Despite being a succubus, she seems quite reserved and innocent around anyone but Tsukune, who she's convinced will eventually crumble under her charms and devotion and make her his.

Yukari Sendo

Role: Intelligence Officer
Species: Witch
Combat Rank: D
Specialty: Magic, Academics, Trivia, Unconventional Lore
Transformation Class: None, witches are so near-human that a disguise is usually deemed unnecessary
Ethical Disposition: Quite neutral about most ethical dilemmas, Yukari makes decisions primarily based on what she wants and what others want rather than right or wrong. Although she restrains herself from doing evil deeds, this is at least as much because she's smart enough to foresee likely consequences as it is because evil deeds are bad (and she probably only even cares about that at all because Moka and Ranma do).

The group's token genius, Yukari is an 11 year old prodigy who's taken a romantic interest in Moka and practically worships Ranma, who she refers to as Senpai. Although previously she mostly concentrated on academic achievements, since meeting Ranma and seeing him overcome challenge after challenge with the depth and breadth of his physical arsenal and hard-earned skills, she's taken to studying more magic to increase her range of useful abilities for a given situation. Although she's the Intelligence Officer of the Protection Committee, she has little patience for spying on people or finding out secrets, and mostly contributes well-documented information and planning.

Mizore Shirayuki

Role: Service Representative
Species: Snow Fairy
Combat Rank: B
Specialty: Elemental Attacks (ice), Ice Doll Creation, Stalking
Transformation Class: Partial shift. Mizore turns limbs to ice at will, although this represents her abilities more than a specific "transformation"
Ethical Disposition: Cares little for human moral concepts, particularly those governing privacy and personal space. Like Yukari, her primary concern when making any decision is how the outcome will affect her. Mizore has no love for fighting and is slow to anger, but her sense of ethics is guided more by what Ranma might think of her than any moral compass of hers.

Mizore acts as the public face of the Protection Committee to the students that have minor concerns to be investigated and resolved, such as non-lethal assault, theft, cursings, and destruction of property. She was not chosen because she has any particular charisma or interest in the job, and almost everyone agrees that she would be far more effective on the compliance squad or serving Yukari with intelligence, but out of the members of the Protection Committee that didn't have more important jobs, she was the least bad choice. And at the very least, the students appreciate having someone to complain to, even if Mizore offers no actual hope of their problem being solved.

Keito

Role: Assistant Intelligence Officer
Species: Spider Monster
Combat Rank: C
Specialty: Infiltration, Support, Sarcasm
Transformation Class: Beast
Ethical Disposition: Keito tilts the ethical compass directly on its head. Corrupt and twisted, she despises the new direction that the Protection Committee has taken and hates Tsukune for constantly restraining her actions with his moral codes. Keito knows, however, that she can't indulge her vices or sadistic nature openly for fear of being either removed from her position of power and privilege, or being literally destroyed by the significantly stronger members of the Committee who seem inexplicably loyal to Tsukune.

A holdover from the last Protection Committee who stayed on thanks to her skill at lying and the fact that NOBODY wanted to disappoint Tobaki. She obviously hates what Tsukune has done to the Committee, and hates having her power and privileges diminished as it has been, but she fears even more being ejected from the Committee and having to join the other former members, having no more authority than the average student and being an obvious target for the new Committee. She plans the usurpation of Tsukune's command and eventual return of Kuyo to his former post as captain, but is hampered by two harsh strategic obstacles: one, no one she wants to hurt trusts her enough to drop their guard around her, and two, the longer she stays with the new Protection Committee, the more she doubts it can ever be overcome by a group as incompetent as her former peers.

Chopper Rikishi

Role: Compliance Squad Member
Species: Troll
Combat Rank: A
Specialty: Brute Strength, Regeneration
Transformation Class: Humanoid
Ethical Disposition: Loves fighting, and sees no drama in bloodshed and death. Has a very laid-back attitude toward things that would offend human moralities, although he avoids most evil deeds. The most glaring exception being his fondness for starting fights with other people just for the thrill of it.

Joined the Protection Committee as part of bet on a match with Ranma. Despite thinking of it as something of a chore, he takes the committment seriously, especially as he sees it as a good chance to get in lots brawls. Chopper really doesn't understand the big deal behind the Protection Committee, being a strong enough monster that he's never needed or wanted their help, and tends to just carry out his superiors' orders without thinking about it. Although he can be quite dim, and always way too eager to fight someone out of his league, he doesn't seem to have many problems getting by in school.

Tobaki

Role: Treasurer
Species: Yochlol
Combat Rank: A
Specialty: Mathematics, Bureaucracy, Mass Murder
Transformation Class: Aberrant
Ethical Disposition: Does not have an ethical disposition. Is literally unaware that other creatures possess rights, feelings, or any value beyond the money in their pocket. Unable to know empathy, she relies entirely on her understanding of the rules to regulate her behavior. Where the rules do not address a situation, she acts based on whimsy and her destructive demonic impulses, often with horrific results.

The other holdover from the old Protection Committee, Tobaki is an eldritch demon striving to become a productive and responsible citizen of the human world. And she might have made it, too, if Keito hadn't been the first person she made friends with. Although she commits atrocities without a second thought and thinks nothing of the lives of others, she's firmly recast her alignment to "Lawful," and takes rules and regulations very seriously, as they're the closest things she has to a moral compass for decision-making. As a result, she's become a very effective accountant, although nobody can figure out why she acts so formal and professional whenever she puts on her fake glasses.

Kana Kanade

Role: Vice-Captain's Aide (self-proclaimed)
Species: Siren
Combat Rank: B
Specialty: Sonic Attacks, Auditory Tricks, Flight
Transformation Class: Near-human
Ethical Disposition: Largely protective and self-centered. Kana goes out of her way not to antagonize or infringe upon others, owing to her shyness, but when she or her interests are threatened, she can be quite vengeful, and cares little for judgments of right or wrong.

Another one who joined at Ranma's request, nearly all of Kana's actions are motivated by her crush on Ranma. Kana suffers from extreme shyness which she claims is a defense mechanism from growing up while being a target, and as a result has great difficulty speaking normally despite being a siren. Whenever she is not subject to anyone's direct attention, is very familiar with those around her, or is simply very happy, perturbed, or enraged, she instantly overcomes this obstacle, unleashing her powers to their fullest potential. Ranma is her closest companion, as the pigtailed boy has taken to keeping close enough to hear what she says so that he can tell others when necessary.

Kouma Gamaroshi

Role: Compliance Squad Member
Species: Hellhound
Combat Rank: A
Specialty: Elemental Attacks (fire), Boxing
Transformation Class: Beast
Ethical Disposition: Mixed. Whenever his temper isn't agitated (which happens a lot, and very easily), Kouma makes clear moral choices which favor ideals of justice and order, if not peace or mercy. Kouma knows a great deal about human ethical norms, but also recognizes that he goes to school among monsters, and simply adjusts his behaviors to whatever he feels is appropriate. As a member of the Protection Committee and subordinate to Tsukune, he's scaled his behavior back, and can be a reliably good guy whenever he's not pissed off.

Was actually forced into the Protection Committee by Riza Wildman, though he blames Ranma for it. He blames Ranma for a lot of things, actually, as the pigtailed boy has been consistently eclipsing and mocking him since they joined the same club. Although Ranma sees their relationship as a tough-guy "brawls and insults" sort of friendship, the hellhound indisputably sees Ranma as an irritating egomaniac, and puts up with him mainly because Ranma is stronger and outranks him, both factors that hold a lot of sway due to his training and upbringing. Kouma hates his dad and despises being treated as a dog due to his emotional baggage. He also has a crush on Riza Wildman, which he thinks is a secret but everyone else in the school would agree is so well-known that nobody even bothers to bring it up.
