Sighing deeply, Setsuna twirled her garnet scepter in boredom.
She was proud of her duty, guarding the Gate of Time, but she got so lonely sometimes.
Now was one of them. She was bored, too. Hardly anybody would use the Gate of Time, especially not for evil purposes. Heck, hardly anybody knew it existed!
Sadly, that also meant hardly anybody knew she existed.
The other senshi, yes, knew of her, but hardly anybody actually came to see her. Setsuna usually longed for somebody to talk to. It had been especially hard after Small Lady had succeeded in rescuing her world, since Setsuna knew that Sailor Moon and the other scouts would be too busy with their own lives to think about her. Not that she blamed them. If there were some Mamoru in her life, she would stay with him, too.
Small Lady. Setsuna smiled as she thought of the cheery, bouncy, always-happy pink-haired child. "I like you, Pluto," she had said once. "You're my only friend."
"You don't know the half of it, Small Lady," Setsuna said quietly to herself. Small Lady really was Setsuna's only friend. And to think Neo-Queen Serenity had asked her if Small Lady was bothering her because she came to the Gate so often! Setsuna's answer was of course no, but Small Lady had later told her the Queen had scolded her daughter for coming to see her so often.
A figure in the distance caught Setsuna's dark eye. Was it an intruder?
She raised her staff momentarily, then relaxed.
She recognized the small body, the bobbing pigtails, the waving arms. "Pluto! Pluto!"
A smile formed on Setsuna's mature face. Small Lady. The pink-haired princess was coming again to visit her.
Now she would have some company for a while. Her smile only grew wider as Small Lady leaped into her arms and hugged her tightly, nearly knocking her over. Her favorite company, her one frequent visitor, the highlight of her day was here.
Maybe guarding the Gate of Time wasn't such a lonely or terrible job after all.
