WE start off this episode of Seimanden by seeing a nightmare Rodrique is having. He relives the burning of the Azel village, and sees Maruka (a woman who died during the destruction of the Azel), who tells him he is the chosen one; the one to fufill the prophecy of Kaimei. He is said to be the one who can avenge the Azel tribe, and claim what is rightfully thiers, the sword of Azel.
Rod awakens, naked and embarrassed, to find Asubaru in the room where he is sleeping. As they conversed, Asubaru explained to what had happened prior to Rod’s slip of conciousness. Asubaru left soon aftre, when Rod’s little brother Rabi entered the room. As he walked away, all Asubaru could think about was Maruka. He scornfully said to himself that he knws that the woman was in possession of little Rabi. He did not wish for Rod, soul to become a sacrifice for Maruka and Kaimei, and vows to protect Rod. Meanwhile, in the demon world, the demons, and especiallyTeteiyusu, have been anxiously awaiting Laures’ return, and is extremly contented at Laures’ arrival. Laures ius visibly weak from his trip to the human world, so Tetei had to help him to his quarters. Arrving there, Laures disrobes, and tells Tetei that if he really wants to serve the demon lord, he must give Laures his strength. Tetei gladly accepts, but Laures did not mean it. Yet Tetei continues with his desire to give to Laures, even promising to offer his own life. Ttetei alos questions Laures. He asks why the demon lord does not use his full stength. Laures responds that that strength doesn’t matter, only Hilda matters to him. Tetei is visibly shaken by this comment, even denying to himdelf that Laures, words could be true. The scene ends with Tetei running off crying to himself. Back at the tavern, we see Sherril on stage, playing the guitar, soon to be joined by Hilda’s dancing. After thier show, Sherril is exhanusted, but content when playing music, noting that it would be alright if she died today, having had such a good time onstage with HIlda. Hilda scolds her, telling Sherril that she will vanquish the disease she has. Thier coversation then turns to Laures. Sherril thinks that HIlda is in love with him. Hilda affirms this, but reveals her confusion about her feelings for Laures. (Her mind flashes back to when Rod tells her that Laures ealed away her memories.) Thier talk is halted however, due to the fact that they have to go back on stage for another performance. However, Sherril passes out, while telling HIlda to trust the black haired man. |
After the doctor comes for a visit to thier home, he says that SHerril will need to go to one of the big hospitals in the city. This is extremely expensive, unfortunately, and Hilda can’t afford it. But soon, Hilda receives an offer from the baron (the land lord of the town) to come and dance at his home, for a hefty sum. However, no one who has gone to the court of Baron Berk has ever returned. So HIlda swallows her pride, and accepts the offer, desperate to help Sherril.
Elsewhere, the young Rabi encounters Gagul’s old girlfriend. Rabi then convinces her that Hilda seduced Gagul, and killed him afterwards. He also convinces her that she should seek revenge for HIlda’s apparent crime. Needless to say, when doing this, Rabi was in control of Maruka. She intends to have Hilda out of the way, because she belives her to be an obstacle to Rod’s destiny.
Baron Berk soon arrives in town, to a large auditorium, to see Hilda’s dancing. In this cene, we hear throught the chattering of the townsfolf about Berk’s past; he was supposed to have been a good ruler, before he lost half of his face in a battle (hence why he wears that half-mask). Now, he is cruel and uncaring. He even had his servant Jiji whip a child in the crowd for making a remark about his face.
Hilda is surprised at the size of the stage where she is to perform. SHe is not allowed to leave the backstage area at all, and is restrained by a large bodyguard to prevent escape. ALthough Kukuru tries, he doesn’t help at all in trying to get Hilda out of there. They are not Berk’s men, but were hired by Gagul’s old girlfriend, who we now learn is called Belle. Belle explains to Hilda who she is, and that she is there to seek revenge. Belle tries repeatedly to stab Hilda, as the possessed Rabi watches smiling. All of a sudden, HIlda finds a sword in her hands, which she uses to defend herself. Rabi/Mauka is shocked. He believed that Laures had stolen it; and then realises that it was sealed in Hilda’s body, and the seal releasees itself when Hilda is in danger. SHe was unaware of this. The sword of Azel, crafted by Maruka’s father, Kaimei, has the power to control the human and demon world, as Rabi notes. Rabi/Maruka then believes that the reason Laures is after Hilda was because of the sword inside of her.
Asubaru soon arrives at the scene, looking for Rabi. HIlda soon starts to talk to herself, wondering where that sword could have possibly come from, fretting again about the loss of her memory. They leave, and all the while Rabi/Maruka wonders how Asubaru couldn’t have recognized the sword of Azel. Hilda then goes to the stage to dance for the baron, who is greatly impressed by her performance. Baron Berk then instructs Jiji to handle HIlda carefully.
Meanwhile, Teteiyusu heads for a sacred area of the demon world, despite the warnings of a guardian who was present. Tetei struck him down and continued. He arrived at a large seal where he mouthes a few words, so he could open a seal. Tetei wants to open the seal to release Zadei; Tetei believes Zadei will be a much greater ruler than Laures, who doesn’t care about the demon world. After Zadei is released, Tetei is remorseful, and says to himself that he had to betray Laures, and that his relationship with Hilda was disgraceful. (Zadei is a demon with powers equal to that of Laures’, but lost in a battle to contest Laures’ leadership, and was thus banished by Laures to be locked away.) Tetei, believing that Zadei was dense, concluded that the former demon general would be easy to handle. Zadei, on the other hand, does not trust Tetei, wondering why Laures, secon in command would betray him. He ths implants a seal on Tetei, to ensure his loyalty. The two demons talked, particularly about Hilda, and the situation between her and Laures. Since Zadei *hates* Laures, he decided that he will kill her, in a brutal fashion, in form of Laures’ eyes. But in the meantime, he gathers some demons, and destroy a village in the human world, allowing Laures to find out that Zadei has been released.
HIlda has been invited to a dinner party by Baron Berk, and decides to go, even though Sherril warning her not to. Arriving at the Berk’s castle, she is subjected to some of Baron Berk’s “entertainment.” He brought out a lion and a child, and watched as the lion mauled the peasant boy; Berk thought that the boy’s blood was beautiful. Sickened, HIlda tries to leave, but couldn’t; Berk intended her to be a piece of his collection, and thus stay until she dies. Luckily though, Laures arrives to the rescue, but not without catching Berk’s eye-- the baron wants the demon for his collection as well, amd Berk ordered Jiji to use whatever means possible to get him. When reunited, HIlda questioned Laures about his being a demon. He didn,t answer her, only saying that the only thing that mattered was that she was with him.
Later, Hilda tends to Laures, who is worn out from sickness from being in the human world too long. Lures told Hilda to take his life, if she feels that she could never forgive him, because only she has the power to kill him. HIlda does not understand this at first, but realises he is talking about the sword of Azel within her.
Meanwhile, Zadei and his pack of demons have taken over many of Berk’s estates. Berk gets news of this while he daydreams about Laures’ beauty. Berk and Jiji went to the window to see what was happening, and Zadei is tearing up the surrounding areas. Zadei, however, has forgotten what human air does to demons, and has to be reminded of this by Tetei, who obviously looks down at Zadei. Zadei then makes use of the seal he put on Tetei, and absorbs some of his ‘ki’ to regain his own strength. Tetei passes out.
Hilda soon treis to seek out Sherril, so they can escape the demon attack. SHe only finds a note from Sherril, asking for forgivness for being such a burden. Hilda didn’t think she was a burden, and wonders where SHerril, weakened form sickness could have gone off to. Sherril went into the forest, and discovered what she thought to be angel, which was really Teteiyusu. Hilda saw Laures soon afterwards, and asked him for help in finding Sherril, which he refused. But afterwards they decide to look together. Meanwhile, Sherril observes the “angel,” worrying about its injuries, although Tetei simply disrespects her, and refers to Sherril as an animal. HIlda pfound the two soon, and scolded Sherril for running off. Laures spoke to Tetei, asking him what happened in the demon world, and said that he is prepared to deal with Zadei, and the person who betrayed his trust. Tetei, thinking ot himself, that he must kill Hilda and never let her sould be reborn, so Laures will have nothing to anchor him from becoming powerful.
At Berk’s castle, we find out that Bekr has made a deal with Zadei. Berk wants to borrow some of Zadei’s power so he can obtain Laures, and in exchange, Berk’s castle is to become a stronghold for the demons, linking the demon and human worlds.
