CREATOR'S COMMENTARY with Setu Firestorm

Oh, where do I begin? I've been working with Realmsoft Interactive America ever since the Neo Krysta II project. Before then, I was with Realm Manga (which is actually with Realmsoft) making the written manga series of Hoshima for fun's sake.

I remember the day I created Hoshima. I myself, as you may have figured, am a BIG anime fan, and I have played games like Lunar: Silver Star Story Complete, Grandia, Arc the Lad (I've even seen the anime, too), and just the style of storytelling that many anime creators use really inspired me! I decided that I would create something that was totally original, and I wanted to blend a little bit of everything into one story series. Thus, Hoshima was born.

I admit that I am responsible for all of the light-hearted stuff that Realmsoft now has, because apparently Sir Phoenix loved to incorporate some childlike innocence to the newer stories. In my personal opinion, I believe that no matter what your story is, no matter its depth, complexity, or anything else, that if your characters don't make the game enjoyable, what is your game really worth?

Take Neo Krysta II for example. The story may not have been very deep, maybe not even to where you'd say, 'Oh yeah! That story was so interesting.' But..! The humor in showing Peika and Raku's immaturity and also showing their 'human' traits made the game fun, and you actually grow to love the characters.

I know I talk too much...:) In the case of Hoshima, I wanted to make an OHR presentation that was like an anime show, but interactive like a game. In the case where I make one episode for an RPG file, this was so I could go all-out in the making, like using memory-hogging things like face pics, short cinemas, and extensive plotscripted scenes. I also wanted to make something to where the humor is clean and suitable for all ages, so that anyone could enjoy it. I'll leave the rest of opinions up to you, player. Have fun, and I hope you enjoy the Adventures of Hoshima.
