QUICK DIC.
Both of us use a variety of Japanese words and phrases in our fics, and even German. For those of you who don't know what a word means, we've tried to compile the ones we use most here for a quick reference, along w/ pronunciations.
Japanese:
- Aa (ah)- yeah/yes/sure, etc
- Abunai (ah-boo-nye)- look out
- Ai (ah-ee)- love
- Ai Shiteru (ah-ee shee-teh-roo)- I love you
- Arigato (ah-ree-gah-toh)- thank you
- Anata (ah-nah-tah)- you
- Baka (bah-ka)- idiot/fool/stupid, etc
- Boku (boh-koo)- I (male form)
- Chibi (chee-bee)- little person
- Daisuke (dy-skee)- I like you/I love you (not as strong as "ai shiteru")

- Dare (dah-reh)- who
- Dare da (dah-reh dah)- Who's there/Who's that/Who's this, etc

- Genki (gehn-kee)- spirited/excitable/cheerful, etc

- Hanase (ha-nah-sey)- let go/let go of me/let me go

- Kutabare (koo-tah-bah-reh)- fuck you (i think ^^;;)
- Mami (ma-mee) - deceiving spirit
- Manga (mahn-gah) - Japanese comic
- Mangaka (mahn-gah kah) - artist/writer of manga
- Matte (mah-teh)- wait
- Miko (mee-ko) - priestess
- Mitte (mee-teh)- look
- Mou (moh)- a pouting noise
- Nani (nah-nee)- what
- Nande (nahn-deh)- what
- Naze (nah-zeh)- why
- 'Neesan/chan (neh-san)- older sister
- Neko (neh-ko)- cat
- 'Niisan/chan (nee-san)- older brother
- Obaasan (oh-bah-san)- old woman/grandmother/sometimes used for 'aunt'
- Ohayo (oh-hay-yo)- Good morning
- Ojiisan (oh-jii-san)- old man/grandfather
- Omae (oh-my)- you (not as formal as anata)
- Omae (w)o korosu (oh-my oh koh-roas [as in 'roast']) -I'm going to kill you
- Oneesan/chan (oh-neh-san)- older sister
- Onegai (oh-neh-guy)- please
- Oniisan/chan (oh-nee-san)- older brother
- Ore (oh-reh)- I (male form)
- Oro (oh-roh)- (taken frum Rurouni Kenshin ^.^;) basically a noise of confusion, such as "huh?" "what the hell?"
- Oyasumi/Oyasumi nasai (oh-yah-soo-mee nah-sy)- good night
- Sankyuu (sank-yoo)- Jap. pronunciation of the English phrase "thank you"
- Shimatta (shee-mah-tah)- damn it/uh oh
- Shi-ne (shee-neh)- Die
- Shinigami (shee-nee-gah-mee)- God of Death
- Sore wa himitsu desu (sor-eh wah hee-mit-su des)- That is a secret
- Sou ka (soo kah)- phrase that we usually use to mean "That's right" or "I see" "Oh yeah" "Is that so?"
- Sumimasen (soo-mee-mah-sen)- excuse me/pardon me/sorry
- Teme (teh-meh)- jerk/asshole/angry way of addressing someone
- Umi (oo-mee)- sea/ocean
- Urusai (oo-roo-sigh)- shut up
- Wai (why)- noise of excitement
- Watashi (wah-tah-shee)- I (female form)
- Yamero (yah-meh-ro)- stop/stop it/quit it/knock it off, etc
