When Goku awoke for the second time that morning, he found that he was alone. There was no warm, comforting body next to him… and he frowned. It was nice while it lasted.
The Saiyajin stretched and rolled out of bed, lazily crossing the room to his dresser and pulling out his favorite orange and blue gi. As he dressed himself, Goku wondered if Vegeta would act differently toward him now. The prince showed him a different side last night, and that was bound to get the older man flustered. Maybe if Goku didn’t act differently, Vegeta wouldn’t either.
Goku nodded silently to himself as he tied the navy blue sash around his waist. He’d be careful not to make his fellow Saiyajin uncomfortable, and maybe he wouldn’t have to spend so many nights alone.
------------------------------------------------------
Vegeta mumbled to himself as he stuck his fork into the plate of scrambled eggs in front of him, stabbing the food with his utensil several times over. He couldn’t believe he’d fallen asleep next to Kakarotto! And it was nearly noon! Half the day was gone now! Unbelievable!
“Morning, Vegeta.”
The prince stopped stabbing his food for a moment and looked up at Goku, who was just coming through the doorway.
“Afternoon is more like it.” He snapped. “What a waste!”
The younger Saiyajin paused and looked at the grumbling man at the table. Obviously he wasn’t in a good mood. Now he wasn’t sure what to do.
“T—Thanks for staying last night, Vegeta. I slept really good!” Goku chirped, hoping to bring the prince out of his foul mood. It didn’t work.
“Well, I didn’t!” Vegeta lied. “And don’t expect it to happen again either, baka!”
The younger Saiyajin mentally sighed and turned to head back out of the kitchen.
“And where do you think you’re going?!” the prince snapped.
Goku blinked and glanced over his shoulder. “I was gonna go fishing. Want to come?”
“Why the hell would I want to go wrestle with a bunch of slimy worm-eaters?”
“Wellll… You don’t seem to like what you’re eating right now…” Goku pointed out.
Vegeta blinked and looked down at the eggs in front of him, which now looked more like a cross between mash potatoes and a UFO. He’d even bent his fork in his fury of stabbing motions.
“Hn.”
----------------------------------------------------------------
The fish were actually pretty good. Much better than those eggs he’d attempted to digest prior to this little outing.
Vegeta sat back against a tree and folded his arms over his chest as he looked out over the lake in front of him. The surface was smooth and reflected the sun like glass… except for in the place Kakarotto was currently splashing around. The baka wasn’t satisfied with sitting still after his large meal, and so instead chose to ‘frolic’ in the water.
How childish.
Suddenly, Vegeta thoughts were interrupted when a wall of freezing water crashed down upon his head, thoroughly soaking him to the bone; and the laughter drifting from the lake immediately narrowed the list of suspected bakas responsible.
“Kakarotto!!”
Vegeta snarled as he stood and balled his fists up, though the fact he was shaking from the cold made him seem a little less threatening. Goku continued to laugh from the middle of the lake.
“Oh, that’s funny, huh?” The prince immediately discarded his clothes and tossed them aside before diving into the water without even leaving a splash.
Goku’s laughter finally ceased when he lost sight of Vegeta, who hadn’t yet emerged from beneath the water. A tingle ran up his spine as everything seemed to fall deadly silent.
Suddenly, something grabbed the Earth Saiyajin’s ankle, and before he could even scream, he was pulled beneath the water’s surface. Just as quickly, he resurfaced.
“Vegeta!” Goku called as he spun around in a circle, hoping to catch a glimpse of the elusive Saiyajin; but again, the lake was silent and still.
“GOT YOU!”
“AHH!”
Goku screamed in terror as Vegeta burst from the water and attacked him from behind, dragging him under the water. He was pulled toward the bottom, and he opened his eyes just in time to get his feet beneath him so he didn’t do a face-plant in the soggy sand. That was when Goku noticed the prince was still behind him with his arm wrapped around his neck and his body pressed against his own; his naked body. Goku himself still had his boxers on.
The younger Saiyajin’s eyes widened as memories came flooding back; unpleasant ones. A hand around his neck; cutting off his air supply; a body holding him in place. He didn’t like it and he didn’t want it.
Vegeta’s eyes widened when he felt the other Saiyajin suddenly tense up, and before he could even determine the problem, glowing spheres of ki formed in each of Goku’s hands, and the rocketing power level told the prince this wasn’t a game anymore.
Using all of his speed and agility, Vegeta pushed off the bottom of the lake and shot to the surface. He continued to ascend into the sky, and before he could even turn back to see where the other man was, the lake exploded. Water followed him into the sky and shot in all directions, and then began to fall back to the ground like rain.
The prince hovered in the sky with wide eyes, staring down at the muddy crater that was once a lake. Goku sat in the middle of that crater, breathing heavily and looking back up at Vegeta with equally wide eyes as water rained down upon him. He looked as if he’d just come back to reality after having a bad nightmare.
When the water stopped falling, Vegeta slowly descended back to the ground and landed in knee deep water next to Goku, who was still staring up at him, only now he looked full of guilt.
“I’m sorry, Vegeta. I didn’t mean to do that…” the younger man nearly whispered as he looked away.
The prince folded his arms. “Do you know what this means, Kakarotto?”
Goku shook his head, still looking at the muddy water that surrounded him.
A smirk formed on Vegeta’s face as he grabbed the other Saiyajin’s arm and pulled him to his feet. “It means you’re ready to spar again.”
--------------------------------------------------------
“Geez, Vegeta! Thanks for going easy on me.” Goku muttered sarcastically as he exited the gravity chamber and stepped into the fresh air.
The prince stumbled out behind him. “Well you didn’t pull any punches either, you know.”
The younger man chuckled as he watched Vegeta rub his shoulder. “Aw… Did I hurt you?”
“No!” the older man snarled. He marched over to Goku and shoved him to the ground, then seated himself in the grass beside him.
“Oww!” the younger Saiyajin moaned as he rolled onto his stomach and rubbed his lower back. “That was uncalled for.” Goku heard Vegeta chuckle, then felt two strong hands on his back.
“Vegeta, what are yo---Mmmmm…” Goku trailed off as the prince’s hands began to rub the soreness out of his muscles, and he soon found himself completely relaxed, even when the older man moved to straddle him. It wasn’t long before a purr began to rumble in his chest and his eyes drifted shut.
Vegeta smirked in satisfactory. After the younger man’s earlier reaction to his touch, he’d wanted to soothe out his tension, not to mention make certain it wasn’t actually he himself who caused the reaction. The prince was sure their close contact had sparked some memories, which caused the misdirected attack.
Vegeta was pulled from his thoughts as Goku’s tail wrapped around his forearm. He blinked and looked at the Saiyajin’s face, noticing that his eyes were closed and his breathing was deep and even.
He was asleep.
The prince’s eyes returned to the furry black appendage and he gently unwrapped it from his arm and stroked it. He’d nearly forgotten what it was like to run the silky strands of a Saiyajin’s tail through his fingers, and the action alone relaxed him more than any massage ever could.
The deep purr rumbling from Vegeta’s chest stirred Goku from his slumber, and he slowly opened his eyes. The last thing he remembered was the feel of talented hands on his aching muscles, and now all he could feel was the weight of someone on top of him and hands on his tail.
With a startled cry, Goku whipped his tail out of Vegeta’s hands and rolled out from under the older man before taking on a defensive stance. The younger man immediately relaxed when he saw ‘who’ had been messing with his tail.
“Kami, Vegeta! You shouldn’t mess with my tail like that.” he said as he brought the black appendage in front of him and smoothed down the bristled fur.
Vegeta frowned as he studied the other man. All his previous tension was back again. “Kakarotto, did those ningens abuse your tail too?”
Goku frowned. “I’ve told you before, Vegeta. I don’t want to talk about it.” The Saiyajin released his tail and turned away from the prince, quickly moving into the building and leaving and annoyed Vegeta behind.
-----------------------------------------------
It was late, and once again, Vegeta found himself restlessly walking the halls of Capsule Corp. And again, he found himself approaching his fellow Saiyajin’s room. And like the previous night, the lights were still on within.
The prince stopped in front of the door, noticing that this time it had been left open a crack. Kakarotto normally didn’t leave his door open. Was it an invitation for him?
Vegeta hesitated for a moment before pushing the door open with his foot. “Oops, how clumsy of me.” he said to himself with a smirk as he stepped inside.
Goku appeared to be asleep, but the covers had been thrown back on the side of the bed he’d slept on the night before. Yes, there was definitely an invitation here.
The prince shut the door behind him as he quietly moved to the bed and climbed in beside the other Saiyajin.
“I know you’re awake, Kakarotto.”
A smile spread over Goku’s lips, though his eyes didn’t open. “How’d you know?”
Vegeta grinned as he pulled the sheets over himself and propped himself up on his elbow, facing the other man. “Because I wasn’t here.”
The younger Saiyajin chuckled and turned to face the prince. “Always so sure of yourself, aren’t you?”
Vegeta smirked at Goku for a moment before leaning forward and pressing his lips to the surprised Saiyajin’s. Surprisingly, the kiss was returned and the prince curled his fingers in the younger man’s hair as their tongues clashed. He pushed Goku onto his back and leaned over him without breaking their lips apart, and the Earth Saiyajin moaned as Vegeta explored his mouth with experienced expertise.
Just as they were running out of breath, the prince broke the kiss and grinned down at the stunned man below him.
“Yes. Very sure.”
With that, Vegeta clicked off the light.
