When Goku had left Capsule Corp, he was planning on going to a regular fast food place to get some dinner, so when Vegeta led him to one of the most expensive restaurants in the city, he was a little surprised.

The younger Saiyajin hesitated at the door. “Vegeta, I don’t have enough money for this place.”

Vegeta looked back at his companion with a hint of amusement on his face. “Baka. I visited the woman’s wallet before we left. It’s covered.”

“Won’t Bulma be mad?”

“Should I care?”

Before Goku could say anything more, a greeter opened the door and smiled politely as he ushered the two Saiyajins inside.

“Welcome, welcome! Table for two?” the overly friendly man asked.

“Make it a booth for six and be sure we aren’t surrounded by babbling idiots.” Vegeta said as he slipped the man what looked like a hundred dollar bill.

“Yes sir! Right this way.” the greeter chirped as he tucked the bill into his pocket.

Within seconds the two Saiyajins had been seated in a large booth tucked into a quiet corner.

“Someone will be by to take your order momentarily.”

Vegeta smirked as he watched the man run off, most likely to tell the entire staff about the money bag in the corner. He picked up his menu and began scanning the numerous options and started mentally checking off each dish that sounded good.

A moment later, he glanced over the top of the menu and noticed that Goku wasn’t even looking at the selections; rather, he was looking around the restaurant almost nervously.

“Kakarotto? Aren’t you even going to look at the menu?”

The younger man looked back at him stiffly. “Oh, no. I already know what I want.”

Vegeta raised an eyebrow. “You’ve been here before then? With who?”

Goku began tracing circles on the table’s surface, an obvious sign that his nerves were acting up. “Erm…. A friend.”

“A paying friend?”

“Vegeta!”

“Hn. That’s what I thought.” the prince muttered as his eyes returned to the menu. “So you were more like an escort than just a quick fling, eh? Or was this one special?”

Vegeta jumped when his shin was suddenly kicked from under the table, sure to leave a nasty bruise. He would have gotten mad if he hadn’t looked up at Goku first, whose expression suggested that he was furious.

“I SAID I don’t want to talk about ANY of that!” Goku hissed.

The prince didn’t have time to respond before a young woman skipped up to the table.

“Ready to order?”

--------------------------------------------

After they’d ordered their very large meal, which would take some time to prepare, the two Saiyajins sat in silence. Goku sat with his arms crossed over his chest and a frown on his lips, and he refused to make eye contact with Vegeta. The prince could hear the agitated slaps of the younger man’s tail against the booth’s seat.

Vegeta, in turn, started to become annoyed.

“Kak---“

“Goku!”

Both Saiyajins turned as a tall man dressed in expensive clothes approached their table. He had short black hair styled with gel and a dark tan. It was also clear that he visited the gym quite often.

“I haven’t seen you for awhile and my calls haven’t been returned. I was beginning to think you’d forgotten about me.” the man said with a fake pout as he slid in beside Goku and swiftly put his arm around the Saiyajin.

“Uh, now isn’t a good time, Neil…” Goku said nervously as his eyes quickly darted from him to Vegeta, then back again.

The man looked across the table at Vegeta, who was currently suppressing a growl. “Oh, I see. You’re entertaining tonight, eh? Well, how much is he paying you? I’ll double it if you come with me right now.”

Vegeta’s growl finally escaped his throat as he slammed his fist on the table. “You greasy bastard! Kakarotto is no longer in the business of entertaining pathetic losers such as yourself, so I suggest you find someone else!”

Neil didn’t seem very intimidated by this. “Oh, feisty, neh? But is this true, Goku?”

The younger Saiyajin, who was currently trying to hide his red face, nodded.

Another fake pout. “Oh, but surely you’d make an exception for me. If you continue to accompany me, I’ll give you a lifetime of free dinners here. And you know I can make that happen, being the owner and all.” Neil said as he sent an obnoxious smirk toward Vegeta.

Goku didn’t even hesitate with his answer, even at the prospect of free food. “No, Neil. I’m not doing that anymore.”

The annoying smile on the man’s face finally disappeared, which put a smile of Vegeta’s face.

“I see.” Neil looked like he was about to attempt to make another move on the Saiyajin, but Goku gently pushed him back. “Fine.” The man huffed as he stood and straightened his shirt. “I’m sure I’ll see you again soon.”

With that, he was gone.

“What the hell does that mean? See you again soon? Baka ningens don’t know when they’re being rejected.” Vegeta snorted. He looked across the table at the younger man, who didn’t look comfortable at all.

“Maybe we should go somewhere else. Whatcha think?” Goku said.

“And make it look like that idiot intimidated you? Hell no, Kakarotto!” The prince tapped his fingers upon the table as he looked in the direction Neil had disappeared in. A smirk appeared on his face.

“So he’s the owner, eh?”

---------------------------------------------------------

“FIRE!!! EVACUATE! FIRE!!!”

Screams filled the air as people poured from the restaurant. Black smoke billowed from the windows, which were steadily shattering as the heat built up within.

The fire engines were already pulling up when Goku and Vegeta exited, the last two left in the building. The fire had started just after the Saiyajins had finished their meal.

Goku stood in the street and watched as the flames licked the sky. “Wow. That place went up fast.”

Vegeta smirked. “Yes. It’s amazing what a little ball of ki will do.”

“What?”

“Nothing.” the prince quickly answered as he turned and began walking down the street.

“Hey, wait!” Goku called as he jogged to catch up with the man. “We never paid them.”

Again, Vegeta smirked. “Baka. Didn’t you read the sign on the door? It said ‘Building guaranteed not to burst into flames or your meal is free’. I’d say this applies.”

Goku looked at the prince, then back at the burning building. He knew what Vegeta had done, and why; and he couldn’t fight back the smile that tugged at his lips.

------------------------------------------------

The walk back to Capsule Corp was spent in comfortable silence, each satiated by their meal.

It wasn’t until they were in sight of their current home that Goku spoke.

“Hey, what’s all that on the lawn?”

Vegeta glanced up ahead and smirked as he saw what the other man was referring to. All the exotic plants from the Son’s home were now neatly potted and were sitting in the grass, waiting to be transplanted.

“Looks like your banshee decided she was going to start repaying you for all you’ve done.”

Goku looked thoughtful as he stood in front of all the plants, his eyes scanning each one. A moment later, he chuckled and turned to Vegeta.

“So that’s why you were at my house. You were threatening her, weren’t you? She never would have done this on her own.”

The prince blinked in surprise before quickly hiding his shock. “What if I was?”

Goku just shook his head with a smile and picked up on of the larger plants before strolling off to the backyard to replant it. “Thanks, Vegeta.” he called over his shoulder before disappearing behind the building.

The prince smirked, having witnessed the younger man’s tail swishing happily probably for the first time since it’d regrown. Vegeta expression returned to his normal scowl as he glanced at the darkening sky, then back at the numerous plants still sitting in front of him. It was getting late, and if Kakarotto was going to get everything in the ground before nightfall, he’d need help.

And so he thought to himself, ‘was getting his hands dirty worth it?’

“…….WOMAN! SEND OUT SOME ROBOTS!”
