Session 20: "Pierrot Le Fou"
Spike leaves a bar, having won his fair share of cash from the pool sharks. On his way back to his ship, Spike happens upon a fat, oddly dressed man who happens to be shooting at several men...with his walking stick. The fat man, finishing the deed, abrubtly turns to face Spike, removes his hat and bows, all the while with a smile on his face. He then turns his cane on Spike, who retaliates with a quick dodge and whips out his gun, but the bullets are reflected by a strange green field. Spike is looking down this strange man's gun when suddenly, the man begins to freak out because of a passing cat. Taking the oppurtunity, Spike rolls a barrel towards the man and shoots it, causing it to explode. The man is seemingly killed and Spike is thrown into the water.
On board the Bebop, Spike is bandaged up and can't even move, let alone speak. Jet learns from a friend that the man is known as Tongpu, but he is better known as Mad Pierrot. He is an ISSP experiment gone horribly wrong, his information locked away in the mysterious, unknown Section 13 of ISSP. He kills without reason, without purpose. He arrives with a smile, he leaves with a smile. Those who he finds are killed. Anyone who sees him is killed. Anyone who escapes is eventually found dead. And now, he has a new target: Spike Spiegal.
Back on the Bebop, Ed receives an e-mail that is an invitation for Spike to a party. Faye attempts to stop Spike from finding out, but he eventually learns of the e-mail anyway.
Spike arrives at a theme park and is greeted by Mad Pierrot, who has rigged up his own little house of horrors, with Spike nearly being killed by yet another explosion.
Meanwhile, Jet has had Ed hack into ISSP database, searching for information on Mad Pierrot. When Ed finally hacks into it, they learn that he was an experiment into making the perfect killer. But, something went wrong. The decision was made by ISSP to permanently institutionalize him, but his mind snapped and his face became a permanent smile. He killed everyone in the institute that day. His mind began to regress, and he began to enjoy the act of murder, turning him into an insane, pyschopath with the mental stability of a child.
Meanwhile, Spike and Mad Pierrot are in the middle of a stand-off. Desperate, Spike whips out a knife hitting Pierrot in the knee just as he takes a bullet in the shoulder from Pierrot. Spike toughs it out, but Pierrot's not so capable, seeing as how he has the mentality of a child. Pierrot, writhing in pain, is crushed by one of the walking animatronic animals in the theme park's parade just as Jet calls Spike to tell him how to beat Pierrot, which Spike turns down, then turns off the power in the park before leaving, muttering his hatred of theme parks under his breath.
