Goku and crew recover from the sleeping gas only to discover...the door to the cage is open? Someone forgot to close the trap back after they stole the Dragon Ball!
So, Goku, Yamcha, Puar, Oolong and Bulma all head down the corridors and find Pilaf, touting all seven balls. A chase begins with the group being caught in a giant pinball game and winding up...right where they started, back in the trap! Goku attempts to use a Kamehamea Wave to blow away the cell's wall, but it doesn't work too well, only making a small hole. It is, however, big enough for Puar and Oolong to change into bats and fly out, hoping to stop Pilaf from making his wish.
Oolong is actually worth something, managing to stop Pilaf's wish by jumping in and wishing for...the softest pair of underwear in the world...
So, the gang is caught (again) and placed in a room where they'll fry once the sun comes up. Goku relates a story about a monster who killed his Grandfather that only arrives during a full moon. Goku then looks up and begins to transform! It turns out that Goku himself is the monster that killed his father, but how can they possibly stop him?!
The gang decides to stop Goku by having Puar turn into a giant pair of scissors and attempting to remove his tail. Goku destroys the castle, the attempt to remove his tail works and Goku reverts to his normal self. Afterwards, Bulma gives Goku the Dragon Radar so he can find the four-star ball once the Balls revert to normal and her and Yamcha head off for happy, romantic bliss, while Goku decides to train under Master Roshi.
Goku gets some supplies and heads for Master Roshi's Island to receive Turtle Hermit training! Meanwhile, another young boy has a similar idea...
Goku arrives and Roshi tells him he must get him a pretty girl in order to succeed. Goku brings back a huge, hulking, monstrosity of a woman which Roshi immediatly shuns. Goku leaves once more. He returns and appears to have succeeded...until Roshi realizes that this time Goku brought back a mermaid...
About this time, a short, bald-headed boy arrives and introduces himself as Krillin. He left Shorin Temple and now seeks training under Master Roshi as well. Roshi tells them he'd be glad to teach them, so long as they both find him a beautiful woman.
Goku and Krillin stumble across a simply beautiful blue-haired girl who is about to be arrested. Goku, now knowing what police are, takes out the cops and helps the pretty young girl escape to Master Roshi's island. Upon seeing her, Roshi immediatly declares the two his students. But there's a downside...Launch has an "other side" which appears whenever she sneezes. This other side is a blonde, self-righteous, cruel woman who rather quickly draws her gun and proves that Turtle Hermit training is going to be tough!
Roshi moves his home to a larger islandand decides he needs to test the boys current abilities. Roshi's first test? He hurls a small rock out at the woods and tells them that if they don't find it by dinner time, they can't eat! Krillin attempts to cheat, but it doesn't work. Goku finds it, Krillin steals it, and Krillin and Roshi get to eat the wonderful meal that Launch prepared...a poisonous PufferFish.
The next morning, the group is all a little under the weather...except Goku, who's enjoying his break from training!
Goku and Krillin are each given the milk for the morning route and forced to undergo vigorous routines to deliver it. The upside to this is the promise of competing in the upcoming World Martial Arts Tournament. Should the boys be ready in time, they will compete with the strongest fighters in the world! After an exhausting day, the boys learn that the fun doesn't stop there...that was just early morning training...now for mid-morning training!
Training is tough!
As the crew finishes up their first day of training, they quickly realize that this will be no walk in the park! Workout, lifting weights, education, gardening...it's a rigourous schedule, and they have to do it wearing 50 pound turtle shells! To make matters worse, Roshi refuses to teach them martial arts until they can push a huge rock. Krillin can't, but Goku, on the other hand, can push it immediatly, and Roshi simply goes to a bigger rock.
It's over...?!
After what was supposedly six months (^_~), Goku and Krillin are ready to enter the tournament! Once there, they meet Yamcha, who is also entering, and run into Bulma, Oolong, and Puar along the way. The crew gets ready and enters the elimination round...the rules are simple: no hits below the belt, no crying, you're disqualified if you can't get up or say you quit, the rounds are under 2 minutes, and you can't kill your opponent!
Goku and Krillin not only win their bouts easily, but decide that they probably shouldn't use all of their new strength. Donning their bright orange uniforms, the two are the youngest in the competition. Now, there are selected fighters, and the tournament is on!
