One thousand years ago, an evil demon named Talpa waged war upon the Earth from his supernatural realm of the Netherworld. He was defeated by a wise and powerful monk known as the Ancient One, and was banished to the realm from which he came. The mystical armor that the demon had worn was left behind. In an effort to prevent Talpa from returning to Earth, the Ancient One divided the demon's armor into nine separate armors. The armors were named: Wildfire, Halo, Torrent, Strata, Hardrock, Cruelty, Darkness, Illusion, and Venom. Five of the armors were given spiritual kanji or virtues from the purest values of mankind: Wildfire was given the virtue of Virtue itself, the Halo armor was given the virtue of Wisdom, the Torrent was given Truth, Strata was given Life, and Hardrock was given Justice. The other four armors derived their kanji from four qualities valued by the Japanese Samurai: Cruelty was given Loyalty, Darkness was given Obedience, Illusion was given Serenity, and Venom was given Piety. Knowing that the time of Talpa's return was close at hand, the Ancient One sought out five young men to bare the armors in battle. Their names were Ryo with the armor of Wildfire, Sage with the armor of Halo, Cye with the armor of Torrent, Rowen with the armor of Strata, and Kento with the armor of Hardrock. Unfortunately, the last four were easily corrupted and upon finding a way to return, Talpa reclaimed them easily. He distributed these armors to four humans; Anubis, Kale, Dais, and Sekhmet. He promised them power and immortality. In return, they swore allegiance and life-long servitude. The bearers of the five armors became known as the Ronin Warriors or Masterless Samurai. The bearer of Wildfire, Ryo Sanada, met an assistant professor at a University, a young woman by the name of Mia Koji. Mia had been taught of both the armors and the Dynasty by her grandfather, the late Dr. Koji. From a poem taught to her by Dr. Koji, Mia helped Ryo find the other Ronins after being separated during a fight with the Warlord of Cruelty named Anubis. The Ronins were layed with a grievious burden when they found Yuli, a young boy who had been separated from his parents when Talpa's evil shadow returned to Earth. As the war continued, the Ancient one found it neccessary to sacrifice himself in order for the Ronins to battle Talpa. It was around this time that Anubis began to realize that Talpa had only been using him for his armor. Anubis makes a vital decision to switch sides, takes The Ancient One's place as the new ancient. In the Dynasty. a young woman named Kayura replaced Anubis. She had been captured by Talpa as a little girl and raised as a Dynasty warrior. Ultimately, Anubis gave his own life in order to free Kayura, which gave her the armor of Cruelty and the position as the new ancient. To be continued... |
