Fushigi Yuugi: the Mysterious Play

This is a story of a girl, Yuuki Miaka, whom finds a mysterious old book. While looking at it, gets sucked into the world in the book. She finds out that she is to be a no miko to the beast kami, Suzaku, of the southern region of ancient China, known as Konan. Her best friend, Hongo Yui, follows her story by reading the book.

She must find her seven celestial warriors in order to summon Suzaku to save Konan. The first is a young man, known as Tamahome, whom saves Miaka upon entering the world in the book. The second is the emperor of Konan, Hotohori. The third is a woman in the emperor's harem, Nuriko. The fourth is a mysterious, perpetually smiling monk named Chichiri. The fifth is the leader of a gang of bandits, known as Tasuki. The sixth is a doctor in a small village, known as Mitsukake. The last is a boy of 13, named Chiriko.

After finding the first four warriors, Miaka decides that she must go home to Yui and her family. Using the power of her warriors, and her love for Yui, plus the fact that they wear the same school fuku, she comes home to modern day Tokyo. Unfortunately, she cant find Yui anywhere. After a few hours, she decides to go back to find the book.

Her older brother, Keisuke, follows her to the library to try and stop her. He is too late, and he takes up reading the story of his sister, and now her best friend as well, with his friend, Tatsuya.

Unknown to Miaka, Yui is now the miko to the beast kami, Seiryuu, for the western region, Kutou, which has declared war on Konan. Yui believes that she has been raped and that no one loves her, not even Miaka. She vows to stop Miaka from summoning Suzaku anyway she can. Yui also has seven celestial warriors, but they were already gathered by Nakago, the leader of the Kutou army and one of the celestial warriors. The others of the Seiryuu seven are Soi, a woman who can expand a man's chi through sex; Tomo, a strange man whose power is the creation of illusions; Ashitare, a demi-human who is very strong, but very stupid; Amiboshi, a flute player who can control people through the power of his music; Suboshi, Amiboshi's twin brother, who uses yo-yo's with razor sharp points to cut through anything, even concrete; and lastly Miboshi, who uses illusions and inhabits other peoples bodies. (He's over 500 years old, I think.)

I think I will stop now before anyone who hasn't seen the show gets spoilers. I hate spoilers, so I refuse to do that on my own page.
