In the third game, Mari is one of the "extra" characters you can pick up or not pick up depending on which path you choose in Chapter 2; you find her on the planet Oolalaka on the Oolalaka route. Her real name is Mari Teshigawara.
Mari has I think the biggest, most pointy... armor of any of the characters. (Now what did you think I was about to say!? ;) It's pretty cool looking, too. Mari is all about flowers; her attacks are flower-related, her armor makes her look like a giant flower, and all her lines (all two of them) have to do with flowers.
In the first Yuna game, when Yuna goes to see her space cruiser for the first time (it was part of the prize in the Galaxy Fraulein Contest) she finds the cockpit filled with flowers. She's wondering where they all came from when suddenly Mari shows up and introduces herself as one of the Army of the 13 Dark Frauleins. Yuna tries to talk her out of fighting, and it almost seems like she'll go for it, when suddenly Yuna happens to step on a flower. Mari gets ticked and says that she'll never forgive Yuna. Yuna looks down and notices that Mari is already standing on two flowers and points that out; Mari makes a funny face like "Oh crud, she's got me there" but then says she's the friend of the flowers so her happiness is their happiness.
Despite the huge armor, in the third game Mari has the most pitiful HP of any of the characters; most major enemies can swat her like a fly in one strike. Her normal attack ("Rose Tip") is just about worthless, too; it has a decent range but it barely scratches the enemy. The only thing that makes her worth taking into battle that I've seen so far is her "Poison Needle" attack; it has a pretty good range and poisons enemies. Unlike most traditional RPGs where poisoning an enemy does little good because the battle is over too soon for it to matter, in Yuna 3 poison is actually pretty useful because of the tactical nature of the battle system; you can, say, poison an enemy that's on the other side of a chasm and it might take several turns for it to get to you -- and by that time it'll have taken a lot of damage from the poison.
If Mari gets killed in battle, she says "The life of a flower is a fleeting thing, isn't it?" When she uses her Rose Tip attack, she says "Rose Tip!" When she uses her Poison Needle attack, she says "The flower is beautiful... but it has thorns."
