     International Hackey Sack League.

Welcome to the Internation Hackey Sack League, or IHSL. Before we begin playing Hackey Sack, here's some background information on the Hackey Sack...

The Story
Several decades ago, when the world was young, and the birds flew high. When the water was clean, and nature and humans interacted as one. In the heart of Cosmo Canyon lived a young boy named Uruk. Uruk and his friends loved to kick pass a ball amongst themselves, you know, play catch... with their feet. One day Uruk and his friends wandered to the coast to play ball on the beach. One of the older children, Desoto, had a heavy foot. When the ball was passed to him, he gave it a swift kick... off the beach and into the ocean! The children swam after their ball desperately, like a hopeless child trying to keep up with his parents in a busy city's streets. Alas, it was too late. They had not reached their ball in time. The ball had fallen victim to the clutches of the aggressive water and drifted away into the unknown. The children were outraged... no, FURIOUS! They wanted to mutilate Desoto for his loss of their beloved ball. What choice did they have but to wander home, whether they wanted to face the fact that they had lost their ball or not. Many a day they sat alone in their homes, bored, deppressed, just staring out the window where they used to play with their ball around the campfire near the base of the village. Nearly a month after the loss of their precious ball, Uruk decided to make a new one. What a great idea! He asked his mother to knit him a small ball of dried tree and bush roots, while he'd search for stones. He stuffed the pebbles he found into the rootball and named the ball Hackey Sack, mainly because Hockey Stick was taken... He displayed his new invention before all of his friends, and much to his surprise, they liked the idea of this new ball. It was much lighter than that boulder of a ball they played with before. However, when they discovered the hackey had difficulty rolling on the ground after being kicked, they refused to have anything to do with such a pathetic toy. But Uruk would not settle for staying inside his home any longer until someone found a better idea. He called back his friends and made a new set of rules for their game. He explained the ball could be kicked into the air, and passed along as such. And thus, the birth of Hackey Sack! (No Desotos were harmed in the fictional creation of this story.)

The Hackey Sack
A hackey sack is basically a small beanbag/sandbag ball which can be held in the palm of your hand. It's changed in many ways since the time of it's creation. The hackey sack was at one point filled with rocks, and later, dried stiff beans. In the present, most contain small circular plastic pelets. Hackey sacks also are made from different materials. As oppose to the traditional roots, which still exist today, many are made of yarn. Also, there are linen hackeys, and yes, even hemp rope hackeys.

Hackey Sack, a Bad Ass Sport
The game of hackey sack originated in Cosmo Canyon, and it is still played amongst today's underground youth (and some old folk who lack lives). The way hackey sack is played can be easily explained 1)Players: Hackey sack can be a single or multiple player game.2)Circle: All players must form a perfect circle in order to play. If 2 people are playing, they must stand adjacent to one another. 3)Kick!: The hackey is placed on the ground, then any one of the players (it really doesn't matter) rolls it onto his or her primary foot with the secondary foot and hurls it into the air. 4)Kick Back!: Which ever direction the person kicked the hackey in (normally forward to the opposite side of the circle), the person it comes nearest to is expected to start kicking the hackey around in the circle. 5)Technique: There are different techniques to kicking the hackey to another person. One way is the forward kick, which is kicking the hackey forward with your toes. Another is the inside kick, where you bring your foot up towards your body and kick with the arch in your foot. The outside kick is the opposite of the inside kick. Headbutts are acceptable but they won't get the hackey sack too far. The same goes for knee kicks which are usually used to bring the hackey in for a kick. A gang kick is when 2 or more players standing next to each other can't decide who should kick the hackey when it's coming towards them, so they all decide to put a foot in at the same time and kick the hackey nice and hard. This can be dangerous to dropping the ball if not timed and synchronized correctly. Hands should only be used if the hackey sack is about to go over your head, and can only be used thrice before disqualification.6)Rules: Keep the hackey sack in the air and off the ground!

Let's Play Hackey Sack
Hackey Sack competitions will be held worldwide. No matter where you are, just register in advance at any major city or town and our IHSL airline will pick you up for the competition and take you home when it's over. There are some ground rules that need explaining in the tournaments...

• No materia or ki attacks will be allowed in the games (There will be special anything goes matches)
• No fighting amongst players once the game has commenced (No fighting over the hackey)
• Hackey Sack teams may be created and used in the Team Versus Team matches

There are four types of matches. The first type of match is "Head 2 Head". The second type of match is "Group". The third is "Team Versus". And the fourth "Anything Goes" (this will be for each "Head 2 Head", "Group", and "Team Versus").
Head 2 Head is when one player is put up against another player in a one on one, or head to head match. The winner of this match will move on to challenge the winner of another head to head match. Points will be deducted for each time one of the players kicks the hackey out, kicks the hackey short, or misses the kick. Both players begin the match with 20 points. The winner of all these matches will recieve a prize.
Group macthes are when a mass amount of players all play hackey sack together, but not on teams. Points will be deducted for each time one of the players kicks the hackey out, kicks the hackey short, or misses the kick. All the players will begin the match with 20 points. After a player loses all his or her 20 points, he or she is eliminated. When the final 3 players are playing, the 1st place winner will recieve a prize. 2nd and 3rd place will recieve runner up prizes.
Team Versus is closely related to Head 2 Head in the form of elimination. The point in Team Versus is to beat the other team. The players on each team will have to be even, so if one team has more players than the other, that team has to agree on who will be sitting out. Both teams will play amongst themselves. Points will be deducted for each time one of the teams' players kicks the hackey out, kicks the hackey short, or misses the kick. Both teams will begin the match with 20 points. The first team to lose all 20 points will lose the match. The winning team will face off against the winning team of another match. The team who wins 1st place will recieve a very special prize. A runner up prize will be awarded to the 2nd place winning team.
Anything goes matches... what can we say? A few keywords might be gore, blood, guts, weapons, death, brutality, ki, materia, glory, and pity. You decide what happens in these matches. You can do whatever you want to another player, just as long as you try to get him or her to drop the hackey. Make sure YOU win this match.
I guess that about sums it up... Let's play Hackey Sack!!!
