Windows Tip: Default Email
in IE
Chris Pirillo shows you how
to configure email links in your browser.
Have you ever noticed that when you click on an email link on a webpage your
browser automatically opens an email program window? This is a great feature
of most browsers, but only if the email program that appears is the one you
regularly use. In today's Step One, Chris answers this question from Bob in
Toronto:
When I try to send email from a website, I get a pop-up saying there's no
program to send email. Why?
Bob, you need to change a setting in Internet Explorer so that it will
correctly display the email client of your choice. Today Chris walks you
through these steps:
Click the Start menu, click Settings, and select Control Panel.
Double-click Internet Options and select the Programs tab.
Use the E-mail pull-down menu and change it to the email client of your
choice.
When finished selecting, hit Apply.
Test your new change on the next email link you see.
